I see that we get a 20% discount at Richard Petty Driving Experience. I looked at the website and the most popular package in $449.00!!

I was thinking of giving that to DH for his birthday in a few weeks and schedule the experience for our trip in April (it's a BIG birthday!!)......

Has anyone ever done this driving experience!! I think he would absolutly LOVE it but kill me (not literally...LOL) for paying so much....

I bought it for my DH a few years back he LOVED it! He would like to do it again someday. They had offered the ride along for 50% off (49.00 I think) and he wished he had done that before he actually drove he said it would have given him a idea of the track. 8 laps go pretty quick and once you start getting the hang of it, it was over.

Thanks for the information. Maybe I should get the driving experience then the rookie on....I want my DH to really get the most out of it

My husband just signed up for an extra 8 as he got out of the car from the first 8 laps ;) His excuse...it took almost the 8 laps to get the hang of it, so he had to do it again so he could really experience it. And the guys at the track are smart...they get you right when you finish your laps and the adrenaline is high to upsell you the add'l laps!

To the OP...my husband has now done Richard Petty at Disney as well as other tracks several times and he absolutely loves it, worth every penny.

I see you are from the MA area. Did you ever look into Watkins Glen driving school experience(New York). I never did it but it looks really cool.

i gave dh the expeience,a nd he LOVED it. his only regret was that he didn't have a credit card with him as they offered a discounted 2nd when he finished his drive.

he said spoke to a few ppl there that did the ride-along, and they wished they had put the money toward the experience instead:confused3.

My GF was deciding between the Driving Experience and the Typhoon Lagoon Surf School as a xmas gift last year before our March trip. Due to the high price versus short time frame of the driving experience, she opted for the surf school and it was a blast. You get a whole 2-3 hours worth of the wave pool all to yourself prior to the park opening.

Not sure how your husband would feel about that, but it's always an option!

We have done the Richard petty driving experience and it was great but no one wanted to do it again until they saw the new experience of driving an exotic car on a new course that will not just be driving in a circle. They have some great cars to choose from like a Porshe 997, Lamborghini, Ferrari and audi. Prices start at $169 with 15% available to DVC members. We are hoping to drive all the cars this time as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see how the other half drives. I drove a Ferrari in England once and it was sooooooooo much fun.
