My husband desperately wants to drive alone, but we just can't afford it right now. I am looking for advice from those that have tried the Ride-along. I thought about surprising him for Christmas.

1. Would he still enjoy the Ride-along (when he really wants to drive)?

2. Also, how much time should be allotted to participate, beginning to end (arrival to departure)?

3. How long does it take to get there?

4. Does one bus to Wide World of Sports to get there?

5. The Website says you don't need reservations for the Ride-along - does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks SO MUCH for all your advice!!

They are currently having a special for the ride along that is $49 during the month of december.

If you click on Hot deals it lists it or you can call and ask they said that there were other specials... Good Luck...we haven't ever done it but I hear it is fun..

My DH drove this past October, and I did the ride-along. While I would definitely recommend the drive when you can afford it, I remember the instructor mentioning that those who had done the ride-along first usually did better when doing the drive alone. Especially, at $49 - that's a great rate. Keep an eye out because we got the driving experience on special for $199. I waited to purchase my ride-along ticket until we got there, and they offered it to me at $79 as a walk-in.

For just a ride-along, I would guess no more than an hour, if that. I really can't see that you would need reservations, but I would call and ask them the best time to go. I know certain days are reserved for ride-alongs, others for driving experiences.

It's just to the left as you enter MK parking lot. Don't know for certain if there is a bus that would take you there.

I don't know much about either experience but had the pleasure of meeting some of the guys who work at Richard Petty a couple weeks ago and just judging by them, I think either the driving or ride-along experience will be great. And as stated, with the special going on for the ride-along, its a great value.

Do the ride along and bring your camera. I gave my husband both and have great pictures of him getting out of the car after the ride along.. wobbly legs. 3.5 yrs later he talks more about the ride along than the Experience. I didn't believe them when they said that in the ride along the prof drivers go alot faster than my husband would.. but they do. PLUS they get them nice and close to the wall and the other car.

The folks who work for petty are GREAT.
