Rice Pudding Recipes?

Does anyone have a good recipe for rice pudding? My kids love the rice pudding we buy from the grocery store--Cozy Shack. However, its kinda expensive--about $2 for a 16 oz carton! Especially they way they eat--one of those cartons is gone in a flash!

Rice is so cheap, I could just make my own. I'm not totally inept--I do know how to boil rice and make rice pudding! I just wanted a recipe for rice pudding in the slow cooker, preferably one that doesn't require cooked rice to begin with--too much hassle. I'm looking for a recipe that starts with uncooked rice, etc., in the slow cooker. So, anyone have a good recipe they'd like to share? Thanks!

I always try- but never get it to come out as good as Cozy Shack. This is my favorite homemade recipe- I don't like making it in the crockpot because the rice loses its texture.

3/4 cup uncooked white rice (for creamier pudding use short or medium grain rice)
2 cups milk, divided
1/3 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup raisins
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan, bring 1 1/2 cups water to a boil.
Add Rice and stir.
Reduce heat,cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
In another saucepan, combine the cooked Rice, with 1 1/2 cups milk,sugar and salt.
Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, 15 to 20 minutes.
Stir in remaining 1/2 cup milk, beaten egg and raisins.
Cook 2 minutes more, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat, and stir in butter and vanilla.

I think I will try this recipe too!
It's my Dh's favourite dessert and since he booked a trip for us in April ..I think I will doing something sweet for him!

The allearsnet one looks great, but too heavy on the fat! We need to lose what we've gained over the holiday!

So I think I'll try yours, 10,000 volts! I wanted to use the slow cooker, but you said it comes out too mushy, so i'll take your word for it. Looking for ways to reduce our food budget with two always-hungry kids!
