Has anyone made Rice Crispie treats with other cereals like Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

I have not made these in years since they became so easy to pick up already packaged (although much more expensive!). We have found that the pre-packaged ones hold up really well in fannypacks to use as snacks thru out the day in the parks! But this trip I'd like to make some using other cereals. I know Coco Pebbles and Fruity pebbles will work but was wondering about Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Also since mine won't be "Pre-packaged" I was wondering if they would be too sweet if I rolled them into balls then rolled them in powdered sugar to keep them from sticking together in ziplock bags. What do you think?

Sounds like it would work. I make mine with Multi-grain cheerios. It's a very healthy cereal and the boys love the bars as much as rice Krispies.

You know I was just reading an ad about making them with other cereal. Now I have to figure out where I saw it. I will find it and post the information for you.

I made them with Cap'n Crunch. worked fine. If you are worried about them sticking together, what about rolling them in crushed cereal instead of sugar. I don't think the sugar will solve it anyway with the heat.

good luck

I sometimes use plain Rice Crispies, but I add a little over half a package of Kool Aid. It makes them flavorful, but still incredibly cheap if you use the store brand Rice Crispies. DH likes fruit punch, and I like lemonaide.

I've made them with Corn Flakes before. Actually, I added green food coloring to make a Christmas wreath. They were very good.

how about wrapping them in wax paper before putting them in the ziplock bags?

We found a recipe that used cheerios and trix. The kids loved them!

I made six batches this week to take on our trip and to fix for our Church Homecoming. They were great and a big hit at church! i used Capt Crunch, Coco Pebbles, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and 7 then I combined Capt Crunch and Coco Pebbles. I cut them into bars and for our trip put them in the snack (individual) size ziplocks(2 per bag) ...ended up with 36 bags but then kids are enjoying them b4 our trip. Thanks for all the advice! By the way...Cinnamon toast crunch are my fav!
