RFID wristbands for resort guests

We have already pre-bought our 10 day park hoppers tickets.

If my family wants the wrist bands and they are available June 2012 -

Then HOW do I excahnge the 10 day park hoppers tickets for the new RFID wristbands ?

DD would want pink, DW, me, would take purple, DS would do blue and DH would do any color other than black.

Are you serious?

It sounds pretty cool however there is no way my 3 year old would wear it all day. But I guess I could put it on his wrist to use for his ticket & then put it in a bag so he doesn't lose it.

Oh and what will they be made out of? There are people who are allergic to different materials. My dad for example is allergic to rubber. So if there's any rubber in it and it touches his arm he'll break out..

Lol, I'm with your daughter! I despise bracelets!

I'm extremely uncomfortable with this concept. I'm hoping Disney offers another option for those that don't want to wear the bracelet. Everyone can flame me all you want but "Revelations" in the Bible speaks about the whole chip thing as being the number of the beast. In all honesty, I want nothing to do with it, even if it's disguised in a harmless looking, collectible bracelet. It's still being used and manipulated. The idea of having my family scan their arm is disturbing to me!

I think its funny that APs are cheap paper at WDW

They're not paper, they are Tyvek. They're difficult to damage. Unless they're folded all to heck or they get wet they work fine.

It's been hard to keep ours from getting wet or bent!

They should be plastic.

just curious what you mean by this. no harm intended, just sheer curiosity.

As I posted above they are plastic and most people say they are BETTER than the other plastic KTTW cards.

They don't feel like plastic, they feel like something in between paper and cardstock. If they are Tyvek it is some other form of it and not like a mailing envelope. They aren't even as sturdy feeling as the arcade game cards. In my opinion they are not better than the KTTW cards. From what I have seen they are the same as the one day pass or the party tickets.

The Premier Passport is a nice thick plastic, like a credit card.

Its layered Tyvek and yes they are the same as regular tickets.

As I posted above, when ever there is one of these Paper (Tyvek) vs Plastic (PVC) threads Tyvek comes out as the sturdier card.

I think the Premier Passport is PVC because of what DL uses not because they are better.

Revelation 13:17-18. "And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."

Obligatory Wikipedia Link.

Some people have thought over the years that a multinational currency (like the Euro)....even old Roman Coins (with the picture of various Emperors) have been said mark. The latest thing to claim is that mark is implanted/subcutaneous RFID tags.

To each their own beliefs.

Just thought I would share an article being discussed on different sites this morning detailing enhancements made possible via RFID wristbands for resort guests. I, for one, look forward to the implementation of such a system.

Ok, admittedly I'm a bit of a technology geek. I just read the entire article. All I can say is "Where do I sign?". This is a great use of technology. Walt would be proud. As long as people have an option to continue with the KTTW, I hope the project moves forward and this becomes fact! :cool1:

RFID isn't very secure and people have had credit card information stolen just by walking past someone who has an RFID reader (hacker). Imagine what chaos that would create if someone got a hold of all your information that way, including access to your hotel room. I hate to be dramatic about it, but I would have a really hard time trusting RFID with as much of a target as it's become lately for hackers.

Exactly. And for those who attach their credit card information to the RFID bracelet for charging priviledges in the park it should be a HUGE security concern.

I just have visions of big brother sitting in a room somewhere and looking at all the little dots running around on the screen saying "Look Joe Smith is in the rest room now and didn't stop in front of the sink to wash his hands" :rotfl:

I would NOT be happy about this system being implemented.

From what I understand they don't act like tracking devices...unless the entire resort is going to be turned into one big reader. You would actually have to pass it over a reader for anyone to know where you were.

I hope they aren't those wrist bands that are on permanently until you cut it off. I don't like the idea of having to wear a wrist band 24/7. I'm not sure I could sleep with one on. And if it isn't one of those that stay's on until you cut it off, how easy is it to get lost?

:rotfl: I hate those too! I usually put them on really loose so I can take a shower and sleep without them.

Would you have to attach a credit card to it? I don't charge to the room ever.

Actually, do you have to attach a credit card to the KTTW card? I don't think I did last time, but I wasn't paying for the room.

You wouldn't catch me wearing one of those wristbands; they look too dorky. The first thing I'd do is cut it off with the scissors I carry in my fanny pack.

As for the cost of the bands, RFID chips are pretty cheap and they won't have issues being "demagnetized".

I work in an industry that is so heavy into RFID that it's our primary focus. Disney could get these chips for less than a dime each.

After reading through just the first page of posts, it's what I thought would happen - people are already deciding that they would like a choice of wristbands or their child wouldn't wear one or whatever.

Jeez - let's just see what Disney does with this. RFID is here to stay, live with it. RFID is more places than you know.

Hey guys. Newbie here. Let me over my view on this.

I dont understand why everyone is so up in arms up the wristbands. Looking at the pictures I've seen of them, they are easily removeable and can be put in your pocket or bag. You only need them to swipe one of these Disney RFID readers. So in theory, you don't really need to wear it.

About security. Who says these wristbands will have all your information on it? I think Disney has something a little more clever in store for this. In my mind, the best way to go is this. Assign each wristband an ID number. When a guest checks into a resort, their name is attached to wrist ID on a WDW computer system. Now when you would scan your ID into a RFID reader, the computer would recognize the ID number as you. And if someone tries to get your information with a reader of their own, all they will get is the ID number.

Today, when you make a purchase with your Key to the World card, you are simply running a tab so to speak on your room. Disney asks for a credit card number in case you don't pay your room fees upon check out. I doubt these wristbands would much different then the current Key to the World card in that regard.

Just my two cents.
