The CCB is a bit more friendly.

Actually it's kind of fun. I long ago got over being offended by people saying that they can't possibly be concerned by my son's life-threatening condition because it interferes with their personal preference.

I was only interested in hearing about places that went peanut-free, so I could read up on their sucess. The rest of the bickering and bi***ing was fun to watch, as they each got indignant over each others post. Kind of like starting a fight between rival gangs and then standing back to watch the fireworks.

There is a separate table that is peanut-free and is cleaned using particular procedures. What I don't like is the fact that he has to sit at a separate table in order to eat. While all the "normal kids" get to eat with their class, he sits somewhere else. He is allowed to have 2 people sit with him, and he usually has 1 or 2 each day.

The thing I absolutely hate is that we have to place a "tag" on him and have him conspicuously labeled for the public to read. In order to keep him safe we have to put a big scarlet "A" on his shirt. THAT is what enrages me at times. I know we all have medical issues, but not everyone has to broadcast theirs to the world for all to see and comment on, nor get the world's permission to enter a room.

I don't ask the world to change their stripes, and I know they won't even if I ask. There are already so many places he can't go. His sisters enjoy going to see the local minor league BB team. He'll never be able to go. Ditto for high school baseball or football games. Going to the circus is unthinkable. The list goes on.

I don't know what we will be able to work out with the school. I started a thread on the Community board on this. If you want to see what we put up with every day, just read some of the posts over there. The only reason I posted it was to see if anyone lived in an area whose schools had tried going peanut-free. So far there is one post about that. The rest is ill-informed argument. That pretty much sums up what we'll get from the school, I'm sure.

Like I said, this sucks.

That is unfair to tag someone, that sounds insensitive. Unfortunately the schools (around here) are famous for hype and short on action when it comes to a lot of things. What usually happens is nobody wants to take responsibility and the support staff is lacking in training and resources.

Rob, I've never known anyone who had a life threatening allergy, or who ahd children with one - I would never have guessed how difficult it would be to deal with something like that. Your son is lucky to have parents who fight so hard for him!

As for the Community Board, those people are just plain crazy!

I saw that, and thank you. It took me a minute to realize that was you. I am so familiar with the names and siggies on this board, that they appear normal on the CB at first. Then I realize that I am on the "other" forum. Kind of like seeing a familiar face in a crowd of strangers.

I like to stir them up now and then, but here is the better place to hang out.

What is it this time? Your "friendly" neighbors? Al's been in a crabby mood ever since returning from Disney. Send him your neighbor's address & he'll not only annihilate them for you...it will help him reduce some of the stress he's been under lately! Kind of a "two for one" deal, if you will!

Is this a good place to vent? We had one of our best family vacations to Disney for Halloween. Since we have been home it's been great news followed by awful news or ***t luck. Last week I fell after the kids left the door opened and let the dog out. She likes to chase cars. Just what we need 5 kids witnessing their dog slammed by a car. Not to mention what it would do to the driver. I thought I broke my right wrist, hurt my right knee, hurt my left shoulder, and I still am having really bad pain in my left ankle. I think I need to get it checked out. No swelling just bad pain. My DH got a promotion at work. God must have known we were going to need it because the transmission started slipping in our van, and today I was broadsided in my car. The adjuster ruled it totaled. MY car, its a 13 year old Taurus and it's my kid free zone. What's next. X-rays conclude I have been walking around on a busted ankle? I am thankful I was alone and I didn't have any children with me and it wasn't my van. Now we get to shop for a new car. I want a minivan. Any good minivans that can pull a pop-up? Have to put that on the wish list for the van, tow package. Is that possible? There have been a few other things going on, won't bore you, but that is why I haven't posted since we have been back.

Wow sounds like that came straight out of a movie. Hope it gets better. Oh get you a full size chevy van with a duramax diesel and pull what ever you want. Although that may be a little overkill for a pop up.

Chris and I are thinking of a way to take his truck back to the dealership and find a way to put in a place where the sun doesn't shine. We have had it 9 mos and 7 of those months I have been on the phone with the finance company for something they have done to my payment. This time, since we went on auto pay to try to get some of THEIR issues to go away, they took the payment out on the 4th and then sent me a bill 16 days later saying it bounced twice and we owed them the payment and the returned check fee. Now mind you, MY HUSBAND WORKS AT THE BANK! He gets in trouble if we bounce anything. It never bounced, period. So, WE had to prove to them that it never bounced, not that they had to prove a record of it bouncing, or they were going to put it on our credit report as a 30 late notice. I can't understand how something comes out of the bank just fine and then they threaten you like this by demanding another payment and late fees for the same freakin month. I never had this problem with the first lease, never. And I am never buying, no matter how much my husband cries how wonderful they are, a foreign truck again.

I feel your pain!!! I had a 2nd mortgage once that lost a payment. I had PROOF of that payment in the form of a cancelled bank check. It took me over a year to get it straightened out and I had to sic the Better Business Bureau on them to get it fixed. There is an online complaint form with the Better Business Bureau. It WORKED in my case.

Well this weekend is off to a lousy start! I really had no interest in getting into a ******* match with a Mod (getting into a fight you just can't win is sheer stupidity, BTW). But ya know what... I'm going to Disney in two weeks! I'm gonna cling to that! Tis the season to be thankful!

Hey I can relate to that. I have visited here less lately because following my last visit to WDW I was posting to help answer a few questions. I had a volunteer MOD PM me to inform me she found a picture in my signature offensive and based on her feeling alone I had to remove it. This was a picture of Tink dancing which had been on my Sig for at least a year. When I questioned her judgement she stated that there had been complaints months ago that others felt that in the picture Tink appeared nude or scantily clad. Well this was how Disney Animators drew her, Not me. She further said she was surprised the site owner had not removed it yet. This was the first I had heard of this so called problem.

Well unfortunately noone here has any rights since we don't own this web site and there is not a board to appeal to so basically I had two options. Conform to the Mods judgement and remove the Tink or delete my membership and stop posting to my friends and fellow members here. I removed it but I am not happy about it. I like being here and have saved tons of time and money thanks to advice from others. I just wish the Mods would police people using slightly mispelled foul language and adult themed conversations and inuendos rather than concentrating on pictures of Disney characters. Okay Rant over now.

I thought that pic of Tink was cool. Last trip to FW a guy had Tink custom painted on his cart. It looked good.
