Revival of the angry thread!

While I agree that Disney should be a little more selective as to who they rent ECV's to, there are two primary reasons it won't happen:

1) They would miss out on the opportunity to make more $$$$

2) It would be a nightmare to administer. While some people appear healthy enough to walk (and a lot should be walking instead of riding), they would risk lawsuits if they started picking and choosing who could rent one. I don't think some young kid working the rentals has enough knowledge to make spot decisions as to who is or isn't handicapped.

I had to rent a wheelchair at U.S./IOA once because of a problem with my leg. It was temporary, and I didn't go to the Dr's for it, but kept me from walking long distances. I don't know about the comfort of the ECV's, but let me tell you....riding in a wheelchair is darned uncomfortable. Your butt is sore after an hour.

Yeah, talk about a way to stir up some lawsuits. The first time Disney refused to let someone rent an ECV to a person with a true handicap...or at least a perceived true handicap, they would be taken to the bank!

It should be the public's' moral decision to make and unfortunately too many people these days are looking for the angle that suits them best; not giving a crap about how it may interfere with another's good time.

Maybe Disney could simply put a sign up that said:

ECVs are for the use of those with medical necessity.

Or something like that. It wouldn't keep everyone without a moral compass from renting, but it may make some stop and think.

Jim, take a day off and relax or I'll put you in time-out! We can't lose you now. :)

Well, we're down to 137/97 today. Headed in the right direction, but not really sure why this is happening.

Jim, my wife is 38 years old, perfect picture of health (you would think by looking at her) and has an average blood pressure 150/95..and thats WITH a daily dosage of Hydrochlorothiazide and Atenolol. Apparently these medications are usually administered to the elderly because everytime my wife gets a new pharmacist...they comment on how young she is to be on these meds!! She's never sure how to react to that!!! Should she feel complimented for looking so young? Or are they telling her she's gonna die soon??? Anyway, this BP spike just started happening within the last 3-4 years...no real explanation as to what has caused it....I think it might be due to years of putting up with my crap!!!:confused3

I hope you can get a grip on what's making your rise...its a scarry thought of what happens fom not getting it in check. Good luck to you buddy.

I've been on BP meds since I was 35 & a lot thinner than I am now. Currently, I'm on 4 meds for BP, 1 for cholesterol, 2 for diabetes. My highest official BP was 223/182 when I was admitted to the hospital for congestive heart failure in '04. I've also had 2 minor strokes.

High BP can be inherited - in my case, and life-style choices - also in my case. When I quit smoking for about 4 years, it didn't effect my BP at all.

I'm thrilled when my BP is 125/85.

CRAP!!!! After reading this, I'm a medical mess! I think I'll go have a beer & a smoke. :rotfl:

One those pharmacists should have asked her if she is starting to have pre-menopausal symptoms. It would be early, but possible with the size of your wonderful family. Ladies are cardio-protected until their hormones start to sputter and BP can spike fairly quickly.

Of course it could just be putting up with your crap, Rog.;)

Come to think of it my wife's BP has spiked in the past few years too...HMM.
Nah, couldn't be me!

Jim, hope yours gets under control! :thumbsup2

I'd hate to be the person to ask a 38 year old woman if she is menopausal. :scared1:

lol...thats how I like to think...ENJOY IT WHILE YA CAN!!!!;)
That's my motto, Rog.

Monday morning my first call of the day was from the local ER. One of our members presented DOA. Although she was 76, she had just been to her Dr the week before & got a clean bill of health. NO problems of any kind. She always watched her diet, exercised, didn't smoke, didn't over-imbibe. She was at her aerobics class & BAM!! Major heart attack took her out before she even hit the floor.

You just never know - therefore, I enjoy myself & don't fret about the health issues. When it's my time to go...it's my time to go. I know, I know...there are things you can do for a healthier life and that will prolong your life, but I've always said...."Think about the ladies on the Titanic that waived off the dessert cart that fateful day." You just never know.

Okay....on to angry things....

I was really pizzed about the Bucs cutting Derrick Brooks. Talk about a slap in the face!!! Brooks only had one year left on his contract, and they let the most popular man on the team go??? Cause he's 36? He was probably the best linebacker the Bucs ever had & ever will have. 14 years on the team and POOF - bye-bye. The Glazer brothers are jerks, and obviously, so is the new general manager. I wasn't too happy about them cutting Warrick Dunn, Cato June & Joey Galloway, either. I WAS glad when they fired Gruden - what an arrogant azz & a lousy coach.

Man, I am about ready to throw in the towel. Now I have developed a contact dermatitis from a knit hat I have owned for years. It looks like I am wearing a red hat, but there is nothing there - top of my head, ears, and back of the neck in the exact outline of the hat - itches, burns - patients looking at me like I am some sort of freak (well, I am, but there's a different look about them today). I'm using so much hydrocortisone I'm gonna look like the Hulk when I leave the office tonight. And the Benadryl - I'll probably be sued for falling asleep in some lady's lap.

Those Dr.s on TV look cute in their little green surgical caps. ;)

You could be McRashy.:lmao:

The worst part is we are going out with some friends after work who are particularly ruthless. Last time I followed them to the joint we were going to and my buddy got lost and ended up taking us all over Allentown, so of course I rode him about it all evening. I can't wait for tonight.
