Okay...so today I called the front desk of the resort itself..they transferred me to "billing". I explained that the check out was automatic..linked to our American Express. We were in another part of Florida during what supposedly was a "late check out". She also told me there was another family with the same first and last name who stayed at the resort..during that time..but not on those exact dates. Anyway, I did mention that I had proof of check in at another resort. I told them we've stayed there previously and loved the resort. Have stayed in Disney enough times to know to ask for a late check out if we needed one..which in this case was not necessary. Also mentioned the mousekeeper we had, and told them she was great, and maybe she didn't realize we left the room. In any case...they didn't ask for any proof...just very nicely said after reviewing the situation they would be issuing a credit. It would take five to seven days.
THEN I called American Express...and told them this was the case. They didn't see an issue of a credit yet..and the charge is still held in dispute. They took down the information of who I spoke with and when. THEN I had to address my latest bill with them, where they misappropriated the payment. My husband uses this card for his pay pal account, and there are always credits, and charges. While I've got it all worked out..this isn't the first time we've had a problem with them. Honestly I think they hope people will just get tired and let things go, and wind up paying for charges they don't make.
We use this card because it used to be simple..it's a "charge" card..but not a credit card. Meaning that it gets paid in full each month..no interest. However, after their not handling the investigation too well, and applying the last statements payment incorrectly...I'm done. We will be using a credit card should the need arise. We've had this card for some 20 years...but American Express sure has changed. Mostly..I don't think the calls are even taken in AMERICA. I just call back until I get a customer service rep that I can understand.
So I "think" it's good news..hopefully Disney will issue the credit..which I think is pretty likely, and hopefully American Express won't screw it up. That...I have my doubts about.
