Hamilton Beach food processor $43
I love this food processor and I have owned several different brands and sizes of food processors over the years.
It comes with shredding and slicing discs in 2 sizes so nothing additional to buy.
I ruined the Hamilton Beach discs after several years of putting them in the dishwasher so I bought a Cuisinart and returned it after using it over 2 days for about 10 different items. I will buy another Hamilton Beach soon but it still works great; I just don't have the slicing/shredding discs.
The Cuisinart, even though the capacity was greater than the Hamilton Beach, overflowed - the opening on the Cuisinart is only a couple inches high, so you have to do everything in small batches and it makes an unholy mess. Also, the Cuisinart pureed everything I put in, no matter how careful I was to pulse, yet still left big chunks [for instance, of onion] that did not get sucked under the blade at all.
With the Hamilton Beach you get a very even chop, and if you want to mince or puree you just continue to pulse or run it.
And it does pass the hummus test.
It's really inexpensive compared to Cuisinart and Kitchen Aid.
