We had a lovely time at the Akershus Princess lunch on Saturday, Nov. 17th. (Please make an ADR if you want to go to this. They were not taking any walk-ups.) Cast: DH, me, DD15, DD12 and DS16. (This meal was not his choice!)

First we stood in line to get a picture of Belle (yellow dress).

After they took our entree order, we went through the cold buffet. It was really good. DS16, DH and I were adventurous and tried the various fishes, but there was enough cheese and other "normal" stuff to make the girls happy. Among us we had the lamb stew, kjottkaker, pulled pork sandwich and chicken breast. It was really all quite tasty. Even the chicken, which I expected to be an ol' dry chicken breast (DD15 is not an adventurous eater) was quite juicy and good. The plate of desserts was also terrific.

The princesses were Aurora, Jasmine and CINDERELLA (!) plus Belle. We were worried about the little girl at the table next to us who was in her Snow White dress, but she didn't seem too upset that Snow White wasn't there. All the princesses were very nice to us and made a big deal over DS16.

Even though we may have been "too old," the experience was great. The food is expensive but pretty darned good. An added bonus over the MK Cinderella lunch: I had a glass of Reisling and DH had a beer!;)

I can't believe Cinderella was there. Wow. Lucky you.

Thanks for the report. We have a lunch ADR for April and will have people aged 3 years to 70 years.

Thanks for the review. :goodvibes We are going for lunch in April 08 too! Going with DH & DD 15. They are mostly going because I am a huge Belle fan. How cool you got to get a picture with her.
I was a little nervous about the food, but it all sounds delicious and enough choices for everyone. Glad you liked it. princess:

I love to hear good reviews of this restaurant! It was my favorite place last year and the Kjottkaker was my favorite dish! We also had Cinderella there the night we went.

I have an ADR booked for breakfast in a few weeks and I am looking forward to trying it during a different meal.

Oh and it is just me and DH, lol. I love the opportunities to take pics with the Characters since I am addicted to Scrapbooking!

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.

Can anyone tell me what the kjottkaker is and what it tastes like?

Thanks!

This is from the menu on allears:

Traditional Kjottkaker
with a cauliflower, cheese infused mashed potato,
seasonal vegetables and a red wine beet sauce.

I had it in September 2006 because our Waiter suggested it. He told me if he had to pick an American dish that it resembled the closest he'd say a Meatloaf. I can't remember quite what it tasted like but it was my favorite dish at a Disney Restaurant. My favorite dish all week was the Wienerschnitzel at Wolfgang Puck's (Upstairs Dining Room).

I hope that helped!

I thought it tasted like a giant meatball. DS16 LOVED it; the girls didn't like it at all.

Thanks for the review... we really want to take our dds, knowing that they won't eat much but will be soooooo excited to see Belle and the other princesses! Can't wait for June.......
