This will be our 2nd trip to DL. Arriving the Monday morning after Easter.

Our last and only trip was in 2015.
We love dining signature at WDW, so the last time we did one sit down every night including Napa Rose, Steakhouse 55, Carthy Circle and Blue Bayou. But that trip we didn't really partake in all the yummy treats.

So the object here is to spend less on dinner, try some new things and get many, many more treats and try some of the great counter service. Even though we have two children DS 13 and DD 14, character meals are not a big thing for us.

Monday - Cafe Orleans (Dinner)
Tuesday - Carnation Cafe (Breakfast)
Wednesday - Ralph Brennan (Dinner)
Thursday - Carnation Cafe (Lunch) Walt's chili, fried pickle and potato soup
Friday - Cafe Orleans (Lunch) Want a second shot at that Monte Cristo

I've had Walt's chili at Carnation Cafe. It was good and had some zip to it. We tried the fried pickles there and we probably are just not fried pickle people...thought they were really disgusting. I LOVE non-fried pickles, though!

Our family loves Carnation Cafe. When we are seated, we immediately order fried pickles and a plate of french fries. I always order the meatloaf, DH the chicken fried chicken, DS the burger and fries, DD1 - baked potato soup, DD2 - salad.
Whitewater snacks - chicken nachos, steak nachos, burgers and fries
Cozy Cones - dill popcorn & pear-o-dice drink
Tortilla Joe's - family loves eating here too.

I've only ever had breakfast at Carnation Cafe and it was yummy! Cafe Orleans is also known for their gumbo (a bit spicy) and pommes frites (sooo good, especially with the dipping sauce). I'd like to try Ralph Brennan's sometime, I've heard good things.

My new obsession is the pork belly skewer at Bengal BBQ, I have to have it every time I'm there now. It makes for a good snack by itself or a meal when paired with a few other skewers. So yummy!

Yes we are going to DCA and excited about the food and wine. We love it at EPCOT.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Just a suggestion, maybe rather than Cafe Orleans twice, do Blue Bayou for lunch your last day? If you enjoyed it the first time, that is. Though it's not on the menu, I am hearing (on Allears.net) that you can still get the Monte Cristo there until 4:30 p.m. My favorite strategy for BB is to book lunch right at 60 days out, for the first lunch seating at 11:30 a.m. Check in at 11:20 and request waterside (You'll likely get it anyway, that's how they do it, but just to be sure) then they will seat you right on the water for the best view and ambiance.

Another thing I personally like about BB is that we're gluten free due to celiac, and I read they'd do the Monte Cristo gluten free on request. So I emailed ahead and they did it, no problem. It was yummy! I loved it when we had it before our celiac diagnosis, so I was so happy to have an option we could try.

For me...I wouldn't repeat and go to the same restaurant twice...there are too many other good options. Pacific Warf Café, Red Rose Tavern, Bengal BBQ, Paradise Garden Grill to name just a few.

ETA - Flo's!

That would be too many TS for us. I do a TS a day at WDW but not at DLR. DLR has too many wonderful snacks and great counter service options. You have Cafe Orleans twice for the Monte Cristo, and maybe it's cause I don't like the MC, but that seems excessive to me. Also, no DCA???

YMMV, but whereas I do a table service meal a day at WDW, I usually only do 1 or 2 TS meals total at DL. Too many good counter service options to do table service all the time in California. Especially since it seems like you hit all of the highlights on your last trip.

Have you had the Monte Cristo before? I like the Monte Cristo and I'm usually a big eater, but I've never been able to finish the sandwich, it's too heavy and filling. I don't know if you'll want to eat it twice, as delicious as it is.

I love all of these restaurants! They all have lots of options that are really really good. The baked potato soup at Carnation is my absolute favorite and I love the Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans!

We did dine at BB the last trip. Forgot to mention it. The ambiance was nice but not super excited about the food. We loved the Monte Cristo so that is why Cafe Orleans twice. We may switch this around. And while true twice at Carnation we are going different meals to try a different selection. We do intend to try as many Counter service we can including bengal bbq. I am hoping Cove Bar will be open. I heard it may be spotty opening. So we will see.

I wouldn’t repeat.

First fried pickle I had was there. Then I had them other places and went back. It’s not as good as other places and now I don’t go.

My only must do each trip restaurants : French market, Bengal bbq
Award wieners
Boardwalk pizza & pasta.

If you go to DCA, I vote for Corndog Castle. It is always a must do during our visits.

Funny. Corndogs was first on our list. Are they better than what can be found in Disneyland? Maybe we should hop over there first.

Not better, but Corndog Castle does offer a spicy corndog which isn't available in DL. In DL, the corndogs at the Little Red Wagon on Main Street (we like these the best) come with potato chips. At Stage Door Cafe in Frontierland, they come with fries.

We love the spicy corndog! Usually have at least two during our visit. We will have to check out the corndogs at the Little Red Wagon and Stage Door Cafe and do a comparison taste testing.
