This will be our 1st visit to US/IOA. I am not a thrill ride person. I don't like heights or high drops. Can anyone tell me if this ride has any large drops? I can ride mostly everything at Disney, but TOT, and Splash MT. I read some descriptions about the ride and they say it compares to space mountain. IS that true? Is it really fast like RNR?

It is nowhere near as fast as Rock N Roller Coaster. It does give two launches, one small one that sends you in reverse down a small hill, then right after that one, there's the "main" launch that is up an incline. I forgot how fast the ride is, but I 'd say not over 40mph. The ride is considerable smoother than Space Mountain, and the drops about what you would fine on Space Mountain. The ride is not all roller coaster. The first half is a slow moving dark ride through themed sets with fire, animatronics and scarabs. The coaster portion is pretty short, maybe lasting for a minute.

IMO it has an element of RNRcoaster, in that it does launch you up somewhat, not straight up but upward (best part of the ride actually) and gets fast at that point for about 20 seconds maybe, something like that. But its not a roller coaster, it is a high tech thrill ride/dark ride, with the first part slow, with the happy ending fast part. Best ride on the Universal side of the park IMO. My SO doesn't like high drop traditional roller coasters, but this was her favorite ride at the park, and she did not get sick at all on this, but does on regular dropping roller coaster type rides, and she doesn't ride regular coasters.

If you don't like heights or drops, I think the Revenge of the Mummy could frighten then. It has the initial launch up which alone is thrilling, then it goes through the coaster, no crazy drops or anything during this portion, and then there's a drop that could seem bigger than it is, but it could definitely freak a person out who doesn't like thrill rides.

This was my 2nd favorite ride out of both Universal parks. I thought it was a ton easier than RNRC. I don't do rides like Dr. Doom, Hulk, Terror of Terror, etc. I couldn't get enough of this one though!!

When we get round to getting with the little one to Orlando, I can't wait to try out this ride, loved the films!!

This ride is a blast. The coaster elements are short and it's highly themed.

I don't ride Hulk and this ride is nowhere as wild as RnR Coaster IMO.

I would compare it to space mountain.

Me too. I'm not a big thrill ride person (no way would I ride Dragon Challenge or Hulk), but I love Mummy. In fact, I had a really neat experience this past Dec. I used the single rider line to ride Mummy and was seated with just a few people who had used FOTL pass. When we got off I told the TM I wanted to immediately get back on and asked if I had to go all the way back outside to get in the single rider line. He told me no, to just cut through the child swap area and I could get right back on. I did so and absolutely no one was there. The TM there told me to pick any seat I wanted and I got to do the ride totally alone. Somehow it feels different when no one is on the ride with you. Neat, but sortof scary too.:rotfl:

Cool ride! Rode it about 4 yrs ago. One of my favorites. Didn't let 6yr DS ride it. Going in July and think he might try it. He loves the Mummy movies and everything related to Egyptian culture.

Is this essentially the same ride as the ride at Universal Hollywood?
