Reunion Station News

But why even the attempt then do you think with RS? It seems like they’re trying to do something here. I’m hoping that Maybe they’re trying to offer the least possible for the most $ and hoping that’ll fly. After all, it’s easier to add then take away. Perhaps? Hoping
IMO members, and Disney guests, in general have proven that a certain % are willing to pay for things when it makes no financial sense. For example, the program that replaced the food n fun was a prepaid card where you got a 10% bonus but you had to do LOS for all guests and you gave up any other discounts because you couldn't combine them. You really don't have to go any further than the current Dining Plan or retail DVC purchase to get good examples of people willing to overpay for less or no value. In regards to the CL at AKV, my suspicion is it was part of the deal. They had to take the CL to make the deal happen to build the DVC there.

DVC don't want to be roped to "regular" Club Level again. At AKV, if cluc should cease to be a resort offering, they will have to deal with the points allocation somehow.

But it is very popular at AKV, in part due to scarcity.

So this is a (lame) attempt to offer "similar amenities" (not even close) for money in a way that does not impact declaration, and can be called a "member perk."

This is a pilot. I think it will fail. I think the class offerings will be popular. I think eventually the space will be used solely for those, and some rental activity and member mixers.

So Disney would like to offer a "dumbed down" version of CL with DVC for extra $$$ and call it a member perk, but only for members who are eligible. If I were gonna have to pay for CL I would pay for the normal offerings. I bet Disney really regrets the CL rooms at the AKVs.

IMO the Jambo DVC CL rooms were given to DVC because of the poor views and location. CL is for cash guests that are willing to pay the price. While they have changed over the years and maybe have been dumbed down a bit as have all of the restaurants, CL is still making them money so it will never go away.

What is wrong with the location of the rooms? They are on the same floor as the lounge, so I think that is a plus, is it just the views from them?

So I saw this on another message board - a poster just wrote this regarding Reunion Station...

"Here at Disney this weekend and it looks like DVC has withdrawn the membership mingle at Reunion Station. We were over at Wilderness this evening and walked over to Reunion Station, and it looked like it wasn't open. Went to speak to someone at the DVC information center and he didn't have any idea of what I was talking about when I mentioned the mixer. He went and checked and said it was only open in the evenings from 4- 10 for the concierge a paid option. . I read somewhere on Facebook that Disney had changed their mind about doing the free event. I asked him if it had originally been planned to have the mixer, and he looked at me like I was nuts for ever thinking that this idea had been originally planned by DVC."

So weird?!! Can anyone who's there confirm this?

Well, they did write it was going to happen: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2018/03/reunion-station-reservations-begin-april-4/

Copypasta, my boldface:

Presented as a “Membership Extra” for eligible Members and located in what appears to be a repurposed railroad station at the edge of Bay Lake, Reunion Station is flexibly designed to serve as a private lounge with foods and beverages by morning and evening, a center for paid workshops by midday, and a relaxing (complimentary!) retreat for Members by night.

Honestly, I think most Dis members know more than some Cast members!!!!!

My guess is Ken Potrock the SVP of DVD/DVC. Since taking over he has added events paid for by marketing and events paid for by members like bowling, fishing, RS, and other paid events. That appears to be his thing, who knows if his new boss will let it continue.

Room views, cash guests wouldn't want them, you can't request the savanna or roof/pool view, no requests allowed, plus there is always activity outside your door as all of the CL guests from the resort visit the lounge.

I could deal with the view issue, but I wouldn't have thought about other guest being outside our door very often. That will be very different situation we have not really dealt with before.:scratchin

Is this different than other CL resort room locations? Are these DVC rooms located RIGHT in front of the lounge or something?

No. the lounge is not right outside of the guest rooms on the 6th floor, we have stayed in the DVC CL rooms about 10 times and no one has ever congregated outside of our rooms, there isn't room anyway it is just a narrow hallway when you exit the room door before you get to the railing that overlooks the lobby. The two hallways are perpendicular to the lounge, to get to the far hallway, if that is where your room is, then you need to walk through the lounge space, but CL guests do not walk by any rooms on the 6th floor to get to the lounge, you walk out of the elevator turn left and walk by the CL desk directly to the lounge. If you have the first room or two on the far hallway closest to the lounge then you might hear lounge activity as it is pretty close, but there would be no reason for people to be outside your door as there is still separation from the lounge even for that room on the end.

Here is an image that I doctored terribly just to give you a better idea of the setup. The red circle is the lounge and the yellow and green lines are the hallways where the DVC rooms are located, with the green line being the far hallway that I describe in my earlier post above.

Green being the pool view side and the yellow being the savanna view side, correct?

No, it is the opposite. The green far hallway is what is over the front desk area and overlooks the Sunset Savanna (rooms 6201-6209), the yellow is to the right when you exit the elevators overlooks the pool and some flamingos in the distance (rooms 6401-6406).

Oh, ok.

IMO you are paying a premium price and not getting a premium experience.
The pool view rooms are more of a roof view below with the pool beyond. The savanna view is a dead end alley where animals don't like to be even when they force them to feed there. The food offerings are just so so and better in your mind than in reality. Yes there are drinks, beer, wine, soda, if you drink enough, I guess it could be worth it, and as posted, depending on your room location you might hear the people using the lounge 100" away from your room.

Everyone should try everything at least once and decide for themselves if it's worth doing again.
