Hi
I wonder if any Reunion Resort owners can clarify this for me.

I stayed at Reunion Resort in Feb.2008, having booked through a private owner. We paid a small fee directly to them for passes to use the resort facilities such as the waterpark etc. - no problem. However, we did have to pay a very hefty deposit as its a cashless resort and we understood they needed some assurity against people running up huge bar tabs etc.(not that we did !)
I also understand that the Resort do not make it easy for private rentals to rent out - infact I'd almost say they discourage it because it spoils their own rental market.

However, just being nosey, I took a look on the same private owners website today and noticed that they only let out the villa now WITHOUT access to the resort facilities:scared1:
I was a bit shocked, given that most people would book on the strength of the fantastic facilities, especially since it is so much more expensive than most resorts.

My question is does anyone know if there have been some changes in recent weeks on this resort regarding private rentals or has this particular renter just got sick of the complications it causes re: deposits etc ??? Perhaps they had a bad experience ??

I tried emailing the owner, who did confirm they had stopped issuing passes to all but relatives & friends or business associates...but it was unclear as to why this had occurred.

The reason I am asking is because we'd like to visit this resort again, but no way would we pay all that money if we could not use the waterpark, gym, bars etc.

......and if it is a resort wide ruling, I'm wondering if it will affect anyone else renting, or intending to rent in future.:confused3

Are there any Reunion owners on here who could answer my query please....or anyone stayed there VERY recently ???

Those are the rules. I sent a PM to you with a clarification.

This place is still worth staying at even if you can't use some of the facilities. You can always use the 7 onsite pools, Workout room and the grounds are beautiful. Plus it's a secured, gated community. So if you're spending all your days in the Parks anyway....... So what if you can't spend $165 for a round of Golf. Go to the roof top pool at the 11th floor and watch Disney fireworks for free.

:dance3:

Hi Klynch :)

Thank you for the PM :goodvibes
You need passes at least to get towels at the pools (and I thought to gain entry to the waterpark, since how else to you prove you have a right to be there ? - and they do have people at the entrance), and order food & drinks at the bars and pools.
It was not the golf that we were concerned about, but the renter I contacted stated that the passes for the waterpark, pools, bars etc were no longer being issued to anyone but "friends, family or business associates" and this is now stated on their advertisement, whereas it was not before we rented.

And this is also what she confirmed in her email to me.

We are not golfers, but this resort is such a wonderful place without it !!

If you are saying that your rental property offers these facilities, then perhaps it is just this one renter who is fed up with the system, since it is I imagine a bit of an administrative nightmare, the way it works at the moment :confused3

This is what I was trying to establish through this post - have things changed on this resort lately for all private renters ?( ie have they perhaps tightenend up rules and or added rules on privater renters) ....or is it just my previous renter ?
If you could provide the answer I would be most grateful.:lovestruc

However, perhaps this post should in any case serve as a warning to anyone intending to rent on Reunion (golfers and non golfers), to double check with their private renter that they DO have full access to at least the pools etc.

Hi, just curious, as former owner of a home in a rental community, can you come close to meeting operating costs in Reunion by letting the resort rent out your home/condo? I know they have a much tighter rein on the properties there than say a Windsor Hills or Emerald Island. It looks like they are really increasing the rental business for Disney vacations and golf groups and they certainly keep the rates pretty high compared to private owner rates.

As you probably know, to get any positive cash flow from Disney area weekly rentals, one must really put in a lot of time marketing the home on "By Owner" sites. Thanks for the insights...Ted
