Last May I purchased 3 photo albums while in Disney World. I honestly don't remember which shop, but I know they were sold many places. We did not wind up using one of them (and I want a different album for photos from our upcoming trip). The album is still in its original plastic wrap, but I do not have the receipt. This same album is still being sold at WDW. Will I be able to return/exchange this on WDW grounds at any of the shops? Or am I out of luck since we no longer have our receipt?

Well if you don't have the receipt how will they know when you bought it (you could have "just bought it" and lost the receipt)? Just go in and ask to exchange it for another. If they are still selling it they'll probably exchange it for you

I have never had a problem returning items at WDW.
Once my daughter broke her fan spray bottle during a parade and a CM that was watching brought her a new one!!
Another time I went to buy a new ring because the jewel fell out of the old one, and they exchanged it for me.
I don't think you will have any issues.

I was able to return a toy we got as a gift without a receipt. I got a merchandise credit.

I returned a beach towel a few months later (next trip) without a receipt without issue.

I guess they are better with returns without a receipt than with a receipt. I had purchased an item for my daughter around $25 at the World of Disney and right after I paid my husband came found us to purchase something costing another $25 or so. Since we have the Disney Visa I asked to return the item I had just purchased for my daughter and re-buy it along with the item my husband wanted to have the final total be over $50 to get the discount and I was told "No". The manager came and said if I returned the item I purchased for my daughter then I could not rebuy it. Really.... A manager telling a customer they cannot buy something in the store. He realized how stupid he sounded as I said "Fine" and was ready to leave without buying anything. He did realize how stupid this sounded and told the cashier to go ahead and do it. Had it not been that my daughter would not understand her not getting the item I did, otherwise I was ready to walk out with nothing.

I'm glad everyone her had good experiences.

As long as they sell that item in the store you are returning it at and it has its original tags, you should be able to return it without a problem.
I lost a receipt for a backpack I wanted to return. The cast member told me I could return it in any store if I still had the receipt but since I didn't I had to return it where I bought it, but I'm assuming it's because I pointed out they didn't sell the same item in my hotel gift shop.

That is ridiculous.

I've also been able to return an item without a receipt, but I got a merchandise credit that could only be used at merchandise locations and it could not used to purchase any items with a discount (e.g., AP discount). I suppose they do this to avoid someone that would buy an item with a discount, then return it without a receipt to try and get the full price and thus "make" money on the return.
