We obtained a DAS for my daughter on our trip this past February. We are planning another trip this Spring and was wondering if we will have to go through the process of explaining her needs again (not an easy emotional task for me). I thought I had read somewhere that she is "in the system" and we would just have to ask for a new card, but I didn't know if this was true. TIA!

Do you still have the card from your February trip? There is a code on it (looks like a box of squiggles) that they can read to access her record. That is the easiest way, but they may be able to look her up by name as well if you don't still have the old DAS.

Enjoy your vacation!

Yep you are in the system. If you don't have your old card just tell them at GR that you just need a new DAS as you went through the system in February. The only thing they may do is ask to take her picture again if she has grown substantially since the last time you used it. If no picture was used last time I don't believe they will ask to take one.

Just read some reports that the old card is needed as they scan it and that is how they find you in the system. I have to imagine they can look it up somehow though.

people have posted that they were told if they did not have the old card, they might have to go thru the process again and some posted that actually was what happened.

We had first gotten DD's DAS in late October 2013. We took that card with us in late March 2014 when we returned. It was a very simple process; they asked us a few questions (basically has anything changed), took our old card to a room behind the desk and came back with a new DAS. I was asked whether I understood how it worked and if I had any questions, I signed it and we were on our way.

In the very beginning, they were not set up to read the QR code on the card (the box with squiggly lines), so guests who were at a Disney park soon after the change to DAS and returned again before the end of the 2013 May have had to go thru the process again.
