Return to the Scene of the Crime: The Lurkyloos’ First Anniversary at WDW! New VIDEO!

...so I was thinking of that poop picture (yes, still), and was wondering what the other guests must have been thinking when they saw you all taking a picture of that with the castle...

i thought the same thing when she posted it on her blog

Um.. yes I do!

Okay.. that's it. Ready to hear about more cake!!!

:worship: :woohoo: :worship: :woohoo: :worship:

Yes, it's me. I'm here, too. I may just me your DIS stalker!
:wave2:

Involuntary Character Dining....oh that just has SO many possibilities.

So what you're saying is, I did just do character dining! I think I'd better go take a shower... :rotfl:

and one of the best cupcakes I ever had!! Not only was it free for DD birthday, but it tasted like butter and sugar!!
(and I can't find the picture)

What?! No picture?!

The Plaza is a tradition for us! I'm in love with the fries and always have the chicken-ham sandwich. So yummy!

I feel like I've been let in on your secret now - we'll definitely be going back! ;)

Um... Is there more info you can slip us?

Gee... I think so! I didn't really consider that before I ran my mouth off. OK, this is just between you, me and the entire Internets: We're working on an e-book about DVC that explains all the ins and outs for newbies and has charts and worksheets for members. It's gonna rule! :thumbsup2 (I can say that cuz I didn't write it :rotfl: ) I just don't have a publication date on it yet cuz, uh, I'm actually supposed to be laying it out right now instead of typing on the DIS.... :guilty:

...so I was thinking of that poop picture (yes, still), and was wondering what the other guests must have been thinking when they saw you all taking a picture of that with the castle...

Well at least one other guest was thinking "What a great idea!!!" cuz he saw us and jumped in to take his own picture! We even showed him how to shoot from a low angle to get the castle in the background... :lmao:

:worship: :woohoo: :worship: :woohoo: :worship:

Yes, it's me. I'm here, too. I may just me your DIS stalker!
:wave2:

Wait - you were there too?! I is confyoosed! :cutie:

I had a picture of the cake..but it was really food-porny..so I deleted it

We went the The Plaza that weekend..my first time EVAH!! After 100+ trips to Disney, my friends introduced us to the very yummy food

Of all the times that I have been to Disney, I have never been to the Plaza NOR have even SEEN the Plaza. I've heard it mentioned various times around the boards and have always scratched my head saying, "Why do I not know where this is??":scratchin

Then when I saw LL's pictures, I was like "It's on MAIN STREET??"

How have I missed this place all these years? Do you think it is invisible to only a few special people? Does it only materialize at certain times of the day??

Ooh! I can't wait! I finally have DH seriously considering DVC, so that book may seal the deal for me.

Wait - you were there too?! I is confyoosed! :cutie:
Yeah, that would have made a lot more sense if I had elaborated. I was just on another TR telling Tracy how cool it was to "meet" a CM on here. I am a little starstruck. Pardon my wacky-ness. :3dglasses - the wackiest smiley, imo.

Those burgers look awesome! Was the service pretty quick there?

On their way out, they offered to take a pic with us.

I love these guys and it is a super cute pic, but I need to know what is in the gravy bowl to your right? Is that cheese sauce that you poured all over your fries (mmm, cheese fries) or is that just some salad dressing or something?

I have never eaten at the Plaza either but it looks good. AND, I have never seen any streetmosphere characters at MK..........cool.:cool1:

That pic of you guys suited up in your ponchos to ride Splash is funny.:lmao:

I should know better than to read your trippie when I am hungry dang it.....now I need a snack......wish I had a giant Oreo.

It was super cold the week before when we were there also. DH and I did Splash a few times, only sans ponchos, which was a major mistake. BRRRR!

When we did our BP session at AK they had all kinds of plastic tarps and blast heaters throughout the park trying to keep the plants warm. Our photographer had to get creative to keep them out of the picture. It must have been really cold for them to have the plants at DTD covered while there were guests around!

As for doing a TR in a photobook, I will do something like a text + 3 pictures where the pictures are down one side, then a montage on the other page or similar. I haven't found a way to do a chunk of text then a picture unfortunately, but this works okay.

Can't wait to read more!

Aw, nuts! Well in my post of the last day I'm going to put in that pic I have of the destroyed leftover cake, so when I do, you're welcome to add pix of what happened with your piece! :lmao:

:rotfl2: Apparently the Attic isn't the only Brigadoon-like location at WDW! Maybe you missed it because it's kinda down a side street, right at the end of Main Street, where your eye is naturally drawn to the big shiny castle. Frankly, I wish we had a place like the Plaza Inn at Disneyland - table service, decent food at a reasonable price. Our Carnation Cafe is cute but too small and entirely outside - boo!

Yeah, that would have made a lot more sense if I had elaborated. I was just on another TR telling Tracy how cool it was to "meet" a CM on here. I am a little starstruck. Pardon my wacky-ness. :3dglasses - the wackiest smiley, imo.

You guys and your in jokes! (sez the Queen of In Jokes... :guilty: )

Those burgers look awesome! Was the service pretty quick there?

Yes - they want you in and out so they can get more butts in the seats! :thumbsup2

Sorry about the half-eaten food in that pic - that is a trough of Thousand Island Dressing, my all-time favorite dip for fries (except maybe honey-mustard). The waitress kindly brought it at my request. I also put it all over my burger - I forgot to mention that the burgers arrived plain.

I should know better than to read your trippie when I am hungry dang it.....now I need a snack......wish I had a giant Oreo.

:rotfl: You and me both! Let's start a letter-writing campaign to Nabisco to bring back the Big Stuff. :cutie:

Thanks for the tips! I guess I need to just learn to (wait for it...) think outside of the box ( ) when it comes to transferring my trip report to book format...

already WAY ahead of you!!

After our trip to Downtown Disney, we whizzed back to Beach Club Villas to freshen up for dinner at Flying Fish with Nathan & Jensey. I was very excited to learn that they were free to meet us again before we left town!

We had a lovely walk over to the BoardWalk from the Beach Club.

Along the way we passed the wedding location Sea Breeze Point, where we discovered...

Wedding: The Aftermath...

IMG_0625.jpg

As we passed, I spotted something so sad – they’d forgotten the sand ceremony!

The Loneliest Sand Ceremony
IMG_0622-1.jpg

“Um, guys? I’m still here! Hellooooooooooooooo! I can’t exactly wave or anything...”
IMG_0628-1.jpg

(A sand ceremony, for those who don’t know, is a popular wedding ceremony substitute for a unity candle. The bride and groom simultaneously pour two different colors of sand into the jar, which is then sealed up and placed at the back of a curio cabinet until one of their children accidentally breaks it while feeling around for a box of matches.)

So when I saw the Loneliest Sand Ceremony I knew somebody (and by “somebody” I mean “the bride”) would freak out when they discovered it was missing. I wracked my brain for a way to get it back to them, like maybe calling the Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings office or wandering the halls at the BoardWalk Conference Center peeping through keyholes for weddings. Just then the father of the bride came huffing and puffing up to Sea Breeze Point. As he snatched the sand ceremony, he said sheepishly, “And this was my only job!”

We continued on to the BoardWalk and got there a little early, so we snapped some pictures.

When we got to Flying Fish, Nathan & Jensey were already there, as usual – they beat us everywhere! I was hoping we’d be seated in the tent-y part of the restaurant, but no dice. At least we had a view of the tent-y part!

IMG_0635-1.jpg

IMG_0636-1.jpg

Flying Fish is another restaurant that we tried on our honeymoon and weren’t knocked out by but really want to like it so we tried again. I remember on our first visit, our scallops were burned (they called it “grilled”) – yikes!

This time, DH and I played it safe and split the dish everyone raves about:

Signature Flying Fish Cafe Potato-Wrapped Red Snapper - Creamy Leek Fondue, veal glace, and Red Wine and Cassis Butter Sauce
IMG_0638-1.jpg

It was pretty good, but this was the first time on the whole trip that we split a dish and I didn’t feel like I got enough. They didn’t split it for us, either – we had to transfer gloppy leek fondue and red wine sauce to the extra plate they brought.

Nathan & Jensey split the Signature Flying Fish Cafe Char-Crusted New York Strip Steak - Wilted Rhapini, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, rainbow carrots and Classic Sauce Foyot – another dish everyone raves about. I like the idea that a seafood restaurant like Flying Fish serves the best steak on property, but I can never bring myself to not order seafood there!

I don’t know what they thought of their meal, so I will make it up:

“I can't really taste all those adjectives in the description...”
IMG_0637-1.jpg

It was so much fun to hang out with them again, even though it’d only been about 24 hours since we’d seen them last. It seems like each time we meet, we discover more in common – this time it was our mutual affection for Mystery Science Theater 3000. As it turned out, they’d just watched “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians,” which features one of my absolute favorite MST3K lines: [Martians capturing Santa] “Santa Claus, you’re coming to town!” Um, OK, you had to be there....

Anyway, I got to brag about the time I met the hosts of MST3K, and then we expounded at length about the their new venture, RiffTrax, which offers HIGH-larious MP3 commentaries of current movies that you play along with the movie as you watch it.

Any dining experience that lets me expound at length is A-OK in my book!

And our server was very nice and eager to please. She even brought us our sixth FREE anniversary dessert.

Guess what it was.... just guess! (No, flatbread doesn’t count as a dessert, even in Orlando)....

Free Creme Brulee!
IMG_0639-1.jpg

After dinner we walked into Epcot to catch IllumiNations, doing a little window shopping along the way. We didn’t have a lot of time to find a good spot for the show, so we lurked at the rope blocking off the upper French terrace, hoping that the corporate event scheduled there would be a no-show cuz of the cold. As it turned out, they never did show up, but the guide still wouldn’t take down the rope – booo!

It turned out to be a pretty crummy place to view the show, but it wasn’t until later that Jensey and I discovered we’d both been kicking ourselves thinking we were the ones who picked it (which means it was obviously Nathan & DH’s fault, somehow, and they’d both better make it up to us with cake!)

It was also FREEZING cold again, and the wind was blowing smoke our way. Boo! After the show we hustled back to our room at the Beach Club, cranked up the heat, and cut four more slabs of leftover anniversary cake! We kept Nathan & Jensey there as long as we could (“Um... did we tell you about the time DH threw up...?”) but they were eventually able to sneak out when we slipped into a sugar coma.

Up Next: Last park day, and Dancing Around the World Showcase!

Carrie,
Your review of Goofy's Barnstormer cracked me up! We're planning to take DS there next trip if the line's not too long. Do you think it will scare a 2 year old? Probably not, DS doesn't get scared too easily. When we took him on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin he loved it and kept saying "wee!"

Thanks for making an effort to meet us, I wish we'd had more time. If it hadn't been so cold we probably would have activated our passes. I would have loved to go on Big Thunder Mountain with you (did you go this trip? I forget), it is my all-time favorite ride. I once rode it 6 times in 24 hours. It's the best at night, and in the very last car because it wiggles around more!

I love that pic of us at Downtown Disney, and let me just mention that I am only 5'1". I pretty much live in 4" heels, but they're all sandals, so I wasn't wearing them that day.

I'm going to have to try one of those oreos next time, was the peanut butter good?

It was OK, but I think classic vanilla creme is still the best :thumbsup2

I think, if your DS doesn't scare easily, he'll like the Barnstormer. It's very gentle but still fast. And I didn't see any kids freaking out when the trains came back into the station! :cutie:

Ok I have to know how they got the candle to stay standing on the plate!:confused3 :confused3

I think they drip a little bit of wax on the plate first and then stick the candle to that --er, um, I mean - it's Disney MAGIC!!! :wizard:

What a great story teller you are! I have really enjoyed reading both this trip report and your wedding report, and just had to come out of hiding to say so.

DH kept himself occupied...

There must be something about this pirate and husbands, mine has a similar picture from our honeymoon in 2007:

All the best to you both! It's going to be so sad once your report is done. :sad1:
