Just trying to figure out if I could handle the new mummy ride. I don't like the traditional big coasters like the hulk or duelling dragons. Is the Mummy that intense and does it have any really big drops? Is it more like Dinosaur at Disney? A little help for a whimp here!

My DH is a coaster whimp but loves ROTM. The dark does make the fast parts seem more intense than they really are. I can't remember the exact numbers but the drops and speed I believe were comparable to BTMRR

There is a whole big thread further down the page all about people and REVENGE of the Mummy. Check there and make your decision based on that. Chances are, you can handle it. Its like nothing at disney, the only thing I can even remotely compare it to is RNRC at MGM, but it doesnt do inversions, and yes it does have a few elements somewhat like dinosaur, but mostly its all its own.

the only way it could be compared to the dino ride at disney is the quick stop and starts the dino ride has. the mummy has one fast stop before it goes into the roller coasting mode.

the mummy is sooooooo kewl.

too bad everyone likes it ..........that line can get very long at times even with the fotl.

i can never just ride it once, have to repeat it as soon as i get off the ride the first time

it is such an unique ride, hard to compare it to anything at disney

My husband gets sick on a lot of rides, but absolutely loves ROTM.

Does anyone know if there are any videos of ROTM.

I mean im a HUGE roller coaster fanatic and I'm so keen to get on this ride! Just wanna know what to expect.

My sister on the other hand is VERY apprehensive. And after reading numerous reports of it being REALLY REALLY scary, I'm not sure if she'll go on or not ;p

So does anyone know of a video to watch (like all the expedition everest videos looming around everywhere)

Thanks for the info! But one major question - is there a big drop? ko :confused3

there is one sudden drop near the end of the ride. but it's not a traditional roller coaster drop. 'prepare to forfeit your souls!'

depends on what you call a big drop. Compared to a kiddie casters, yes a little bigger. Compared to a big coaster, no.

It's a 26' drop.

That's not that big when you consider this: JP River Adventure has an 85' drop. Ripsaw Falls has a 75' final drop. Hulk and Dueling Dragons have drops over 100'

If you have ever been to Six Flags Great Adventure, it reminded me of Skull Mountain. The coaster part was a little more intense than Skull Mountain. And even though I am a HUGE coaster fanatic, after reading about ROTM, I was nervous. As soon as I got of the ride though, I went right back on. It was awesome!

Thanks you guys! I'm going to brave it. I'll let you know if I live. :thumbsup2 KO

I found a POV of the mummy ride it goes through the whole ride but it's mixed in with a bunch of other footage like stills and artist impressions. But it won't let me post the link because I'm new.

Can you maybe try to PM me the link?
Or post it in a couple days.

I'm DYING to see one. =]

thanksss

I rode Mummy last year. I wasn't too impressed (I know I'm in the minority here). There are no big drops and no inversions. I didn't find it to be particularly scary, but for some younger riders I'm sure it can be. I was disappointed in the length of the ride. It seemed to be over pretty quick. I will ride it again when I go in June and hopefully my opinion of it will change. There are a couple quick starts and stops and I believe you briefly go backwards(?). But compared to other roller coasters, it's on the mild side.

I also want to know. I did the Aerosmith coaster ride in MGM and really hated it, well I loved the take off that was a blast! :goodvibes but by the last flip I was almost in tears, (god I'm such a wimp). :sad2: I want to try this ride, but its the flips I can't handle. Does this have a lot of flips upside down?

it doesn't go upside-down at all, you little wimp. :) it has an uphill launch, some steep turns, and a couple of sharp drops. you'll have fun.
