Quick Question about formatting a Resume.

I go by my middle name Kelly. My first name is always the name people call me by when I send in my resume. Is there a way to properly format my name so that people will call me by Kelly, rather than Amanda.

It's been suggested that I do this: A. Kelly LastName Is this correct? What should I do? Thanks! :)

Yes ... that's exactly what you should do!!!!!

Yes, that's the way I would do it. Or you could just put Kelly lastname up at the top of the form, then at the bottom (where you put miscellaneous stuff) put Legal name: firstname kelly lastname.

But I'm not in HR. That's just how I'd do it. I had a coworker who went by his middle name, and the initial middle last was how he did it.

Thank you!!!

I go by a nickname of my middle name, so I have this problem too. I think the hardest part is when I have to sign my name because my nickname is not part of my signature.

I tend to write firstname nickname lastname. Then when I sign my name on the cover letter, I write firstname nickname lastname, but sign my legal signature - which is firstname middle initial lastname. Fortunately the initials are the same.

I am recognized professionally by both names - and by my maiden name as well. It can be very confusing!

I could have written this post! I know your pain. :teeth:

Another way to go about it is to list your legal name. Then add a line stating your “Preferred Name”.
