Restrooms at parks

I have never seen this question asked so......I have two small kids and like to wash their hands periodically throughout the day and was wondering what the conditions of the restrooms were like? Of course, I want to use soap and hate when restrooms are out of it. Are the bathrooms well stocked? Also, do they have family bathrooms with lower sinks and toilets for the kids or just your standard men/women rooms? Thanks in advance.

I too asked a similar question back in Sept. when we were going to be in WDW in October.
Here's the link for it:

I found that pretty much all bathrooms were pretty clean and well stocked. Several times there was a cast member in the bathroom while we were doing general cleaning - sweeping the floor, wiping down counters, etc. As other people have said: the bathrooms near water rides tend to be dirtier because people tend to go into these restrooms after they get off a ride and are soaked. Even those bathrooms we found to be in better shape than some McDonalds bathrooms I have visited with my children. The other thing you brought up was height level of toilets & sinks (I didn't think to ask that before). We found that due to the fact that most bathrooms had wheelchair/handicap facilities/access that there were alot of sinks set lower so that if you were in a wheelchair - or were a child or shorter person you could still use the facilities. My daughter got a kick out of using the "kids" sink. The toilets I don't remember as being lower anywhere but my 3 & 4 year olds at the time didn't have any issue with this. I only remember mens/womens bathroom - no family bathrooms that I recall. My dd is one of those that has to visit EVERY bathroom so we hit quite a few and didn't have any problems.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Thanks HappyDay! I don't feel so weird posting a bathroom question now that I see your post has 5 pages worth of answers! With kids, bathrooms are high priority!

The first time I took my DD (now 6) to WDW she's was almost 3 and our problem was with automatic toilets. A few months before we went, we were at Disneyland and a toilet flushed too early while she was still seated-she literally flew off the toilet and refused to use one for months afterward. I believe this is a fairly common problem with toddlers. On that trip everytime she said she had to go potty we would take her in the restroom and if it was automatic (and they all were) she would change her mind (thank goodness for Pullups!)

We used the baby centers in all the parks when we could. They have small toilets just made for kids. :cloud9: They are not automatic. The centers are always staffed with nice CM.

And no, I've never had any problem with restrooms at any Disney property. Clean and well-stocked. :cool1:

All of the above...clean, stocked, easy to find, etc. But what I do for hand-washing is to bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer with us in the day pack. We can clean up any time we need to...and is also helps to wipe down tables, etc.

In addition to what others have already said, I recommend also bringing a bottle of Purel or something similar. In between restroom stops, you'll be in and out of rides -- that's when we like the occasional squirt of Purel just for extra germ protection!

WDW has companion restrooms, for handicapped individuals and their caregivers. I don't believe they are designated as family bathrooms.
