Restrictions on changing dates using expired offer?

Hi all
Currently I have a reservation booked for 6 nights using a UOC or PIN discount. The Discount ends today, but we are now thinking of driving instead of flying so we would only stay 4 nights instead of 6 nights. Any recent experiences with dropping nights from a ressie and keeping the same discount? I think I have read that some people have had to rebook using a different discount or no discount if there is nothing under the rate offered, since they cancel and rebook a new ressie? TIA!

Your new dates would have to be available as a new booking with the discounts original inventory to modify.
