Can you think of any others?

Ack, why can't I fix my typo in the thread title? :headache:

We always stopped at Yokens in Portsmouth on our way to Maine. Loved the gift shop...that place was huge! We were sad when it closed it was part of our vacation history.

Barnacle Billy's is still in business in Perkins Cove it is open seasonally. The staff was working on the building in Oct. :thumbsup2

There's a JB Winibrie's in just outside of Chicago - I pass it at least 3 times a week, lived in the same area for 40 year and only went there once, because that was enough. Why do you miss it? Maybe I'll give it a try

We used to love Victoria Station. It was a prime rib place themed to resemble a railroad car. The food was delicious, and it was a fun atmosphere.
They also had a special--I think it was on Tuesday nights, where they would smoke the ribs they cut away from the beef and made the biggest barbecue ribs ever. This was a chain of restaurants in the 70s. I can't imagine how they ever went out of business as they were always busy in every city where we ate.:)

In Gainesville....The Porpoise....(or Purple Porpoise) it's now called Gator City or something and just not the same.....loved the burger basket and smoked mullet dip....

No reason in particular, just a few good times spent with friends there.

Ground Round!

The Ground Round sounds familiar!

There used to be a seafood restaurant in Jersey called Neptune's I think it was. People used to rave about the place, but I never got there. Don't know if it's still around or not.

I miss the Magic Pan. Lettuce Entertain You has brought it back in the form of a crepe stand (at the Mall of American and at Northbrook Court in north suburban Chicago) but it's not the same. I keep hoping they decide to bring back the whole concept!

Did you live in NJ? We had a few--lawrenceville, ewing, bordentown..yumm

No, I lived just across the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philly!

When I was a kid there was a place in Overland Park, Kansas named Peoples. I always though it was soooo cool. The whole theme of the restaurant was "people" and all of the stools and chairs had different "legs" that were always so funny. Some were ladies in heels, some were old men, some were chubby ladies. On Sundays they had a buffet that we would go to after church and my mom and dad would let me eat as much chocolate mousse as I could stomache!

I remember seeing a photo of bar stools with legs of people, but I don't think it was from the States, it was somewhere in the UK I thought.

YES! We used to eat at one in Miami years ago whenever we visited.

Many bars and restaurants have come and gone from my life over the years. I miss the ones I used to hang out at in college and post-grad - I live so far away from there now and doubt I know many people left. But I'm hopefully going to Halifax (where I did my accounting post-grad) in September for work, and I plan to do my own little "pub crawl" one night, just to check out all my old haunts!

At home most of my hangouts from when I was a teen and young graduate have gone. The only one left is a nightclub where, when you walk in, you see tourists and teens - so not my crowd! All the memories of me in my 20s drinking mudslides at the beach bar after beach volleyball with my friends are fading ...... things are so different now. There are new hangouts now for the younger crowd, and we older folks tend to go to each other's houses, apart from the occasional "let's try out this new bar/restaurant that just opened".

Casa Lupita-- loved the one in Marlton NJ. I had many a margarita there!

I LOVE the Magic Pan at the Mall of America!!!! It is a nice alternative to the burger places there!

Ground Round is gone? I thought I saw one around here not long ago, maybe not. I like how Ground Round used to be, peanut shells on the floor type place. They had the best french fries there!

I miss a restaurant called "Olga's"

There was one in the mall where I grew up, in Bucks County, near Philly. When we were teenagers, my one friend and I would go every time we went shopping together. I LOVED the food- they had sandwiches, sort of like gyro's, but many different variations.

It closed down about 13 years ago, shortly after I graduated high school, and we moved right after that anyways.

I never saw another one, and I have always missed it. Well, I just looked it up online just to see if anything came up, and apparently they are still out there, but only in Michigan, and a couple in Illinois, and Ohio! Great, except I live in Maryland now!!!!!!!!! It's definately the same restaurant, and they still have the one sandwich I loved one the menu!

Looks like I'm going to have to plan a vacation to one of those places soon!

Stacey

Wasn't there an Olga's in King of Prussia?
