Restaurants you did not like

I've only had bad experiences at CS places:

#1 Worst = ABC Commissary

I do not care for the Mexican CS, Sunshine Seasons in the Land, or Pecos Bill in MK.

Garden Grill - characters are AWESOME, food is meh, service is HORRIBLE. Normally when we've been over the years they are just 'average' slow. But the last time we were kept waiting a half an hour for our server to bring back my hubs credit card. I got up and found the manager! But it's the best character interaction we're found. So we may go back if just for that.

Crystal Palace - characters meh, food meh, service AWESOME. Been here 3 times in the past few years. Characters always seem very rushed. Food is ok - average at beast. Service is always great there though.

Tangerine Cafe - Honestly I have NO idea why so many people rave about this place. The service was slow and the food was bland/greasy. I do enjoy the mint tea and desserts though.

Cape May - We went for breakfast. Which was fine, even though I thought the selection was a little lacking. Characters were 50/50 a few were great a few rushed by. But again the service here was bad. Had to ask 3 times for drink refills - I guess because me and the hubs are 'weird' and drink soda in the morning instead of coffee or juice.

Other than that I can't complain too much. We did FD for the first time last year and were able to try a bunch of places we have never been before. Most all were good experiences. We will repeat Chef Mickey this year if they offer lunch again during FD. And 50's/Boma. But we want to try a few new places too.

Boma--eewww! Noisy, crowded and ridiculously difficult to get your food...waiter keeps saying "there's no lines go wherever you want" Hah! There were lines 20-30 people long at every station. We're adventurous eaters, and we love most ethnic foods. Hated this -- either totally overspiced (and very odd spicing combinations - like cinnamon BBQ ribs - tasted like the sauce was just melted red hots candy) or was totally tasteless (most of the salads & veggies) Zebra domes have to be the most overated dessert ever. Look nice, taste like...nothing. Meh.

Cali Grille...also very overated & overpriced. Food wasn't bad by any means, but not good enough to justify the cost. We didn't even get the view -- they had the blinds down the whole time we were there (5:30-7:30 on a Friday night in May) When people, including us, complained, they raised the blinds about 6 inches so if you scooched down in your seat you could see a little bit of the fabulous view. Enough to know our window seats would have been a lovely view.

We really love indian food..... I take it from your experience that this food was not ethnic but rather made to taste like a cheap rip off? You have to be careful with ethnic food - you either can make it right and TASTY, or try to make a cheap knock off and absolutely RUIN the dish. I'm seriously deciding against it now.....

Another vote for Hollywood & Vine. Food was bland and boring, and the restaurant was not clean!

After reading all the posts it seems that most people agree on
the worst places that they have eaten and won't return to. In
the last few years I feel that many of the restaurants have gone down hill.
Years ago we thought the Coral Reef was great. The view was special and the food although a little higher priced than others was worth it. It seems that since they have tried to make it a more family friendly place they have lost alot of the quality of their food and service. After so many complaints you would think that Disney would do something. I guess they feel that the view is a big draw and don't need to change.

I have found that if I'm looking for a nice signature restaurant the hotels seem to have the better ones. We like the Yaghtsmen Steakhouse at the Beach Club. If I am going to use 2 TS meals or even pay out of pocket, I would much rather eat here than Le Cellier. Same thing with Fish. You can't compare the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk with ordering fish at the Corral Reef. Maybe they don't have a huge fish tank to look at but it's worth giving up the view for a special meal. It seems that you can find a much better meal out of the parks, but not off property for the same price.

So I would have to agree with the previous posts, Tony's in MK, Mexico in Epcot, Mama Melrose in MGM. To dissappointed to ever give them another try.

Biggest one on my list - Gulliver's Grill at the Swolphin. We had a last minute trip a few years ago, and arrived in Orlando around 3:30, looking for a great "Disney" place to eat, but everything was booked. We got a last minute ADR here, and it was terrible. Food was bad, service was slow, and atmosphere was non existent.

Outside of that, I recommend avoiding Coral Reef (overpriced and a waste of time if you're in Epcot) and frankly, Mama Melrose, which I went to the first time last December and the food was bad and the service worse.

We tried it for the first time during our recent trip.

Didn't care for dinner. We got two different things (that I can't even remember) and just thought it was okay. Not worth the cost or the effort.

Then we tried it a few days later for breakfast. Got the famous Tonga Toast. It was okay but not as good as the stuffed french toast that Boatwrights used to have.

We had many wonderful meals during our trip but our two least favorite were the two at Kona. We won't be returning there.

Great idea for a thread...one or two people complaining about a restaurant is one thing, but lots of complaints is another. We have Coral Reef booked for our upcoming trip, but may be changing based on comments from this thread.

I will have to add two very resounding agreements in order:

Planet Hollywood: Loud, loud, loud and I'm hard of hearing, the food was worse than any counterservice restaurant, and the service was nonexistent. No wonder they give everyone coupons to try out this place.

Mama Melrose -- extremely disappointed. We ate there and the place was empty?! Now we know why.

Unlike others, we actually enjoyed Whispering Canyon and Chef Mickeys. We're not picky eaters,the food was good, but not outstanding, but both were a lot of fun. We've been to Chef Mickey's at least 10 times (3 times for dinner and the rest for breakfast) and to Whispering Canyon twice.

We also liked Boma's breakfast buffett, but were not overwhelmed with their dinner. It was good, but again not outstanding.

For counterservice, I would have to say that Studio Catering Company was our only true disappointment. Never been to ABC Commissary and it looks like that trend will continue. We enjoyed Flame Tree, but it's been over two years since we've eaten there.

i didnt really dig on tutto italia or the quick service eatery in the mexico pavillion (i got food poisoning there) thats it .. everything else ive had has been great.

The only meal we were disappointed by was the Cape May dinner (clam bake). It wasn't bad, just not very good. I didn't like the way the buffet was setup and the lines etc...

Oh, and ESPN Zone too. I forgot that one. I wasn't expecting much there, but they didn't even hit my "sports bar standards". It didn't help that the AC was way too cold for a cool Jan evening.

I did not like ABC, Garden Grill or Tony's.
We are trying Tonys again this time around. It was our first day after getting up at 4am and had a very fussy 3 1/2 year old and 8 week old baby with us!

It makes me sad when I see a whole bunch of new places I am trying this time around on this list. Especially Chef Mickeys- It's our first night dinner and I was hoping it would be a great start to our trip!

I posted on here earlier about our least favorite place, but remember, everyone's opinions are different. We personally LOVE Chef Mickey's. We have gone for breakfast on every one of our trips and dinner almost every trip. We love it. Then again we LOVE WCC and CRT which many people say they hate (yet they are still difficult to get into.) So, everyone is different. I'd go to CM over Cali Grill anyday, to each his own! You may love it, you may not, but make the choice for yourself!!!

Coral Reef- Terrible food & Service

We have eaten at almost every place at WDW over the past years. Our biggest disappointment by far was Citricos. The waiter was rude and the food awful. We had guests who were making their first trip to WDW, and this was embarrassing!

I'd have to agree with you on Citrico's. I had heard such good things about it, but I was very disappointed. The waitress we had was really bad. She would disappear for incredibly long lengths of time (and never brough a drink refill), and she had a weird vibe to her (hard to explain). I also didn't really care for the atmosphere too much. From what I remember, the food was good though. But the experience was greatly lacking.

I'd also have to say I was disappointed with the dinner we had at 1900 Park Fare in 2008. The only characters we got to see were Prince Charming and Cinderella (they were fine) and we had been there over an hour (we were too tired to wait any longer). Our waitress was not very good, and I did not really like any of the food. The prime rib was really bad. On that trip, we ate breakfast there on one of our first mornings, and we really enjoyed that.
