Hey guys,
I am headed out to WDW at the beginning of June and I have seen a lot of people talk about sitting at bar counters for meals if you are a solo traveler which I will be. I was wondering for those of you that have traveled solo before or have been several times which places should I consider going. I am open to any of the restaurants across all parks, downtown disney and the boardwalk. I am looking for a quick place to see my options for food when I decide to be hungry.

any help you guys may have would be amazing.

thanks so much,
Teresa

Hey guys,
I am looking for a quick place to see my options for food when I decide to be hungry.

Not quite sure what the above sentence means. But in any event, some of the better restaurants with counter, bar, or open kitchen seating are:

California Grill
bluezoo
Jiko
Il Mulino
Wolfgang Puck (downstairs)

If you are looking for more casual fare, there is a bar/counter area at 50's Prime Time at DHS that serves the regular menu. DH & I were going to do QS for our lunch that day but popped into 50s PT to see if there were any tables available and were directed to seating at the bar. It was fun to chat with the bartenders and servers while lunching.

Downtown Disney has great bar/food places ! we've eaten a few times at WGP and Raglan Road

has counter seating overlooking the cooking. Several of the deluxe resorts have lounges where food from restaurants is available.

We spend quite a bit of time eating at the bar, as it's just the two of us, and sometimes our plans our last minute. We love to eat at the Narcoossee's bar. Charlie the bartender/sommelier is awesome. Citrico's also has a nice bar area. If you want to catch a game, it's hard to beat the bar at ESPN Club. Full menu and large beer/drink selection. Rose and Crown is a great bar, but eating there can be a challenge, as tables are sparse. We usually enjoy a beer with some fish and chips, but its standing only at the bar. Also a great bar at California Grill. Go well before the fireworks, however as they may not let you up if too busy...

Those are my favorites...enjoy!

I'm not sure, but I think the Rose and Crowne Pub (EPCOT-England) offers food at the bar

They do - it is a limited "pub menu," not the regular restaurant menu, and there is no seating at the bar and very few tables.

Every place we go to has already been mentioned--except Shula's. You can get a full meal there.
And Flying Fish has bar seatng right next to the Chef's counter seating.

Oh-Yak and Yeti--small bar, but you can get a full meal.

The bar at The Wave is great - they have a limited bar menu, but you can also order the full menu.

You can try to get seats at The Cooking Place at Jiko for drinks & food - it's first come, first serve.

We've had great fun, food & drinks at Tambu Lounge & Kimonos.

And the bar is usually shoulder to shoulder.

We had a great meal at the bar of the Portobello Yacht Club in Downtown Disney.

There is a great bar menu at the Territory Lounge at the Wilderness Lodge and the bartenders there are excellent.

The bartender at Mizner's in the Grand Floridian offered to order appetizers from the Citrico's menu for me.

I have eaten at the bars in both Narcoosees and Flying fish. I was able to order anything at Flying Fish and they have a limited meun at Narcoosees. I was disappointed at Narcoosees because my favorite dish (Crab crusted Halibut) was not available at the bar.

That being said, I have dined solo in many of the restaurants at WDW and never felt out of place.

Wofgang puck's restaurant in DTD served food at the bar when i was there in 2003.

I was going to point out what uncle Romulus wrote, that Flying Fish has "bar seating" as well as the "chef counter" seating...two different sections.

I didn't know Narcoossees had bar seating, does anyone know what is and isn't on the bar menu? For the first time ever, this trip dh and I will get a chance to slip off from the Poly alone, and Narcoossees is a favorite. Unfortunately I'm betting I can't get lobster at the bar, but a girl can dream.....:goodvibes

Yeah, make sure you don't discount the resort lounges. Off of the top of my head, I know that the Crew's Cup Lounge in the Yacht Club serves food from the Yachtsman Steakhouse and that the Tambu Lounge in the Polynesian serves their own selection of appetizers.

wow guys thank you so much! I am going to make a list in my little travel book. I am not making lots of hard plans like I did the previous year when I went with family I have three ADR's but only because it is SWW and I know it will be crazy and I want to make sure I eat. I like the idea of just ending up where i end up! Kind of crazy but fun so thank you for the help.

Teresa
