Restaurants to Eliminate from my list?

Thanks for all the replies! I've been trying to catch up with everyones advice and opinions!

Budget wise, we have been saving the past two years and have way more than enough for the food, hotel, and tickets. With four people splitting the total bill of the trip, money is really the last thing on our minds and we just want to make magical memories. We are going next month so it is going to be so exciting because we literally anticipated this trip for two years now. After hearing all the bad comments about San Angel Inn, I think we are going to drop that and replace it with the German themed restaurant.

Good for you!!!!!
I feel your pain, as we still have 15 months and 2 weeks to go to our trip. It feels like it will never get here. I hope you all have the time of your lives and look forward to one great trip report.

I just wanted to say that I love San Angel, and I am a huge fan of Mexican food. The atmosphere really is very cool and something you should definitely check out, even if you don't eat there. I think it's a very romantic place and plan to eat there on my honeymoon in June.

The one restaurant I would say you have to keep is Jiko. I still count the time I dined there as my number one dining experience anywhere, with maybe one other contender.

Coral Reef gets a lot of sketchy reviews, unfortunately.

Good luck making your decision!

Well, don't forget the reviews when you get back. My DH always wants to eat at the Biergarten, but the kids and I just haven't been able to give in on that one yet. Hubby was born in Germany; military brat and FIL met MIL while stationed there, so his DH family (on his mother's side) live there. I just can't tolerate sausages, wurst, brats, etc..., but I have read some great reviews thru the years. One day I know I'll have to give in, but with so many great choices out there, it's really hard for us (considering we don't eat much of what's offered here).

No matter what you decide though, have a great trip.

Oh, and if money really is no issue, there is no experience that compares to V&A.

You'd better hurry and get your reservations made if you're going next month, too. Chances are, you might have to eliminate based on availability. Unless the Gods are on your side, I doubt you'll get CRT on such short notice. Probably not the Hoop Dee Doo that I suggesed (I know it was never an option for you) above, either.

Yep..I just wanted to wish you luck on getting your ADR's. That is ...if you don't already have them. ;) Also wanted to ask....have you looked into the dinning plan? From the looks of the places you want to go the DDP may be a good option for you.:thumbsup2

Definitely keep Jiko ( great food/very expensive) and California Grill. Do not book O'hana. The food was awful. We just returned yesterday.

Hey everybody! Can anyone critique our restaurant list and tell me which ones that I should drop? I can only keep 7 of these..

Narcoosees
Le Cellier
Cinderellas Royal Table
California Grilla
San Angel Inn
Kona Cafe
Flying Fish Cafe
Coral Reef
Jiko

Wow, I'm surprised everyone is saying San Angel Inn and Jiko should be dropped. I heard it's super romantic inside the San Angel Inn with the pyramids and everything. And Jiko got even more stellar reviews. I think I might drop those two if you guys can elaborate why not go to Jiko? Thanks!

PS: Sadly, we are 4 college students and our girlfriends are in love with the "disney" princess theme so thats why we are taking them to go eat dinner inside the castle.

Guess what we do like San Angel, did it last Sept and doing it again this Sept. Dark and romanic, but I would be happy to be college age again. Also keep Le Cellier that is like a Castle inside so there, you can drop CRT, We will also be doing Le Cellier again this year .

I did a little research into the dining plan program and immediately called the people renting us our DVC points to add on the dining plan! It seems like such a good deal and soooo many restaurants are on the program. I'm so glad I posted here asking for everyones opinions and learning about this package before the trip!

I will make sure to take plenty of pictures and write a trip report for all the restaurants when I get back for you guys!

we love both le cellier AND coral reef. the balckened catfish at coral reef is great, as is the lobster bisque. request a table in tier 1 or 2, either right by the window, or one step up,overlooking the window (by window, I mean the aquarium) have fun kids!!! ps. book a segway around the world tour- great fun!

All great choices but if I would put the restaurants in order from best to worst the bottom two would have to be

San Angel Inn

Cinderellas Royal Table

But even these bottom two are good restaurants. At least you do not have really horrible places like Marrakesh on your list

It sounds like you've already made your decision, but if it were me I would drop either Coral Reef or Flying Fish. Those two are really kinda redundant considering that you seem to have a pretty good variety going otherwise.

As for reviews... just remember, that there is nothing so good that someone, somewhere, will not hate it. Even if I see bad reviews on a place, I'm likely to go anyway if I've never been just to form my own opinion of it.

Magic- just make sure you are familiar with the DDP and the credits that go with. Most of those TS restaurants you've chosen will need 2 TS credits per person, so some of your TS meals will have to be out of pocket. Otherwise- you are right! DDP is a screamin' deal and we love it!

Sounds like you have a great trip planned! Enjoy!

Yeah, we definitely plan to pay some of the meals out of our pockets! Probably going to be paying the cheaper restaurants out of pocket and save the meal plan for the more exclusive restaurants.

Check on all ears I think FLying Fish is going to be doing renovations soon.
San Angel Inn or Jiko (2 TS)
