I am taking the SO back to WDW in March, having too short a stay there last December. At that time, we had a wonderful dinner at Victoria and Albert's (VA) at the GF. One thing we enjoyed, strange as it may seem for those who vist WDW, was getting to dress up (me in coat and tie, and her in a nice dinner dress). As we have now done VA, we would like to try someplace else. We want a place that is romantic, free of children, and where we can again dress up and not feel out of place by doing so.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeff

If you want "free of children" and "jackets required" and something besides Victoria and Alberts realistically you're entering the Offsite Restaurant Zone..There are lots of people on this board, frequent visitors, locals, etcs. that might have some good suggestions on romantic, upscale restaurants in Orlando area where you could get that experience.

For our first trip to DW together, I got dressed up for Cali Grill as did my DH. We did not feel over dressed or out of place. There may have been kids, I really don't know as I was much more wrapped up in our dinner.

we've eaten there several times and I still wear a nice dress. I'd get dressed up for Flying Fish and Foltons too. I haven't been to Jiko yet but yep, I'd look as sharp as I can there too.

Go for it!

The thing about most of disney restaurants is that because it's touristville...even in nice restaurants you'll see some shorts and hawaiin shirts. It's just that way.

Anyway, one of my husband's favorite meals was in the upstairs portion of Wolfgang Puck's at downtown disney. Great view and INCREDIBLE food!

Definitely Citricos at the Grand Floridian. My husband and I went there for our anniversary last year and dressed up, like many of the other people there. There were quite a few women in dresses, etc.

Citricos is a wonderful romantic restaurant....very high quality. We made reservations for around eight, and there were very few children in the restaurant. I would highly recommend it.

Another place you might want to consider is Bistro de Paris at Epcot.

Citricos, Jiko, Bistro de Paris, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Shula's, Palio are all places where you will not be out of place if you get dressed up. However, since they are all on property, there will be kids there.

OP originally specified "free of children" ... Where in Disney, besides V&A's? :confused3 One thought I had was a romantic In Room dinner - especially if you are staying at one of the Deluxes with a nice balcony. You get the experience of the food from the restaurant, the candlelight, a romantic dinner :love2:, and no kids, and you are at Disney. You could dress up too.

Hey Jeff!
All of the above suggestions are great! I have one if you don't mind going off property. I'm sure the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes has a nice restaurant and I'm sure you could certainly dress up. Being off property, it may not have as many children, and for the love of Pete, any resaturant at a Ritz is going to be romantic!!! It's only about 10-15 mins away from WDW depending on traffic. I've never been there myself but I've driven by a hundred times and the hotel sits on a golf course and looks absolutely beautiful. Oooh- you could rent a towncar or limo to take you there and maybe have pre-dinner drinks..... but now I'm getting ahead of myself. Wherever you choose, have a wonderful time!!!

Add Narcoossee's to the above places where you should not feel out of place dressing up.

Although at all of these spots besides children there will also be others in resort and park wear as well.

Really, dress up at any resort retaurant if you wish. Although we have not dined there for dinner, I've seen families dressed up for Ohana. Of course, you will see Hawaiian shirts too.

I guess the very bottom line is that 1) except for V&A there won't be anyplace free of children, and 2) you CAN dress up at almost any WDW restaurant.
My sense of the most "adult friendly" spots are Citricos, Palio, Blue Zoo, and Shulas. We've seen the fewest kids per capita at those places.
Just to note that if you do dress up, don't be offended by the many diners at your restaurant who won't be dressed up. WDW is that kind of place--.

We dress up at California Grill and Artist Point since that makes our experience more special. We always see others dressed up and celebrating occasions as well. I think they do a great job making everyone feel like they fit in.

Hi Jeff... if you want to be "Free of Children" your best bet would be to go to Vicki and Al's again or to venture off property. This is Walt Disney World!!!!!--- There will be children at any other place within WDW, even at later times. All WDW restaurants welcome children and have a children's menu (except V&A's where no childrens menu is available, but guests are still allowed to bring the kiddies if they pay for them). I have seen all types of attire in a great variety of WDW restaurants ... ranging from suits and dresses all the way to shorts and bathing suit tops. Only Citricos or California Grille ask for business casual clothing.
