Restaurants to avoid

Well, this varies for us with every trip. There are some restaurants I went on last trip that I would never attempt this trip with a toddler. We've never had a TERRIBLE experience at any Disney restaurant, but some of the nicer restaurants have like 5 things on the menu, none of which my DS9 will eat. (And he'll be an "adult" when we go this year.)

The restaurant that my family probably will never go back to is Boma. The only thing we liked were the chicken fingers and the desserts and we can get that any any WDW buffet! And restaurants like Marrakesh- I know better than to even try once with this picky crowd! I don't consider myself picky, and NOTHING appeals to me on that menu.

We did have a really nasty lunch at Crystal Palace years ago, but gave it another shot for dinner and it was good. I think that the answer to this question is going to be different for everyone. :)

Boma (too LOUD!)

San Angel Inn (ugh ugh uggggggh, bad food, bad service)

We ate at Coral Reef last Fall for lunch and hated it. The service was fine but the food wasn't good at all (at least now what you would expect). The best part of the food was DS's sundae (and at that the ice cream was frozen).

What is funny about this topic is that if enough people post, you will get a negative review about every restaurant and someone will post back how great their experience was! For example, this all started with a commentary on Kona, which is one of our must do's every trip! For me, our not going back any time soon places are:

Cape May Cafe breakfast - worst meal I have ever had on property
San Angel Inn - was my worst experience until we had that CMC breakfast
Flying Fish - not as bad as these two, but with Narcoossee and bluezoo around, this one isn't that interesting for us
Garden Grove - If they were paying us to go, we'd still probably stay away from here. Man that was one bad dinner buffet.

Most of our other experiences have been good or better, and given we have done 11 trips and over 60 days in the parks, that is a lot of meals!

You are so right! Reviews depend upon so many things, some of which I find silly, but for the patron, it was important.

We have logged hundreds of park days, and have eaten almost everywhere, multiple times, plus I come from a restaurant family, so I know for us, we are about food and service, and so I look for reviews from people who are similar to us in that they have lots of restaurants to compare to.

Happy eating, Tiger :)

San Angel Inn: we are huge mexican food lovers but this was disgusting!!!
The surroundings are wonderful but I would have rather ate
Taco Bell!
Coral Reef: Once again one of the greatest surroundings. We have ate here
twice and both times were not impressed. They could do so
more. FYI San Angel Inn was way worse.

My families won't do's

Boma -flavors are not for us, they use spices we don't like

Spoodles -we didn't like anything we got.

ABC commisarry- the food was horrible!

Tony's- heard bad things- wanted to try it for ourselves- agreed with the bad opinions.

Coral Reef- the food was okay- being next to the tank was priceless! Will go again for just that experience!

Coral Reef- the kids loved watching the sea turtles and fish, but the entrees were so salty they were inedible.

We found that you should always give a restaurant a second try! My sister and I said we would never go back to Hollywood and vine because we didn't care for the service and food, but when I went in October I decided to give it another chance and I actually liked it.

Gosh...according to this thread I shouldnt go to pretty much any of the restaurants in WDW...

I don't think that is true at all. What you see with this thread is that some restaurants aren't to some people's liking while others are consistently rated bad. For instance, we love Boma but understand how others may not. I think it is the style of food for many rather than the actual quality of the meal. Many of the repeat offenders on this thread (and similar ones) will see the same handful of restaurants constantly mentioned for their bad food and bad service.

To answer the OP's question, there are only 3 restaurants that we would never go back to.

Hollywood & Vine - I can not stress enough how TERRIBLE this place was! Bad food and bad service. I will warn everyone I can as to how bad this place is!

Garden Grill - This place is ok but the food really leaves something to be desired. I equate it to reheated Stouffer's meals. Too much money to eat bad food in a revolving restaurant

Restaurant Marrakesh - This place wasn't awful but was not to our liking. I would much rather eat at Tangerine Cafe. Much cheaper and far better food (in our opinion!)

There are only 4 we won't go back to

Sci-Fi - the ingredient combination they used was just odd and didn't work together. I usually will finish anything I pay for, not this time.

'Ohana - Tried this three times and it got worse each time. Never again.

Chef Mickeys - We must have hit them on the wrong night, but the food was bad and the character interaction was worse.

Pepper Market - Rude, hateful, apathetic staff and bad food.

It's funny though that most of my favorites or other peoples worsts. :rotfl:

This will be our 12th trip in 6 years (and we stay for two weeks each summer), so we've eaten in a lot of Disney restaurants.

The only two we will NEVER return to are Hollywood and Vine and Tony's Town Square.

Some that we thought were just okay were Whispering Canyon Cafe, Boma, and Garden Grille.

uh-oh. What happened at Pepper Market? We're staying at CS in August. :scared:

We had a VERY pathetic dinner at Rose & Crown. Some of the food had a
"been in the frig too long" taste/odor - especially the kid's meal.

NEVER EVER would we go back to Tonys or Boma. Tonys had horrible service and average cold food (we were ignored most of the time and there was absolutely no time between our courses..when our waiter took our dessert order, he asked for our card then because he needed to wrap things up with us...I left there and went to Guests Services and filed a written complaint)

Bomas was so loud...and the food was just OK.

We were also disappointed with the food at Chef Mickeys, but I knew we were going to enjoy the characters..but it might have been good if the food was better also.

JMHO

It's all about your expectations. I think all the places I have gone in 2 years have been fine. I don't go expecting the greatest meal of my life. We are there for Mickey, for the kids, for fun. I think they are all fine and don't let this thread ruin your Disney fun. It's all good. And you will be full and happy a lot.

There is only one WDW restaurant I will avoid in the future at all costs - and it's not the food (which was ok) or the service (which was great). Honestly I think they could offer to serve me Ruth's Chris steaks at Garden Grill and I'd deline unless they agree to make the restaurant stop revolving!!! :crazy2: I mean, I get the whole thing and the characters are great but Man halfway through I was like seriously seasick and couldn't wait to get off! I should add that no one else in my party felt quite this strongly so maybe it's just me. :upsidedow
