Inspired by the "Food of the 80s" thread, I started thinking about great restaurants that are no longer with us. :sad1:

Does anyone remember Rax? I know I ate there alot, but all I can remember are their Chocolate Chip shakes.

How about Chi-Chi's? My favorite meal was the Cancun (seafood enchiladas) and whatever was the Margarita of the Month.

Anyone else either enjoy the above or have more to add?

What about restaurants that are still around, but menu items that are no more such as the BBQ Pizza from Pizza Hut or the Tostada from Taco Bell?

:dance3:

Houlihan's Old Place

they had the best fried mozzarella balls back in the 70s.....

There might be a few around somewhere else ... but not one around here ... Roy Rogers. Remember the barrels made into seats that you'd sit on?

Again, gone in this area but might live on somewhere else ... Bennigans.

Farrell's Ice Cream
Howard Johnson's
Thrifty Drug Store Coffee Shops (California)
Sambo's

I used to love a place in the Southern Park Mall in Youngstown oh where I grew up called the York steakhouse. I don't know if it was a chain or not, but I loved it!

Also, (may not qualify because the place is still around) does anyone remember something called a bellbeafer at Taco Bell. Basically it was a taco in a hamburger bun. I was a little kid, but I loved them!!!

I remember Rax too, must be a Columbus thing;)

just thought of another: Ground Round

you'd get a basket of both peanuts in the shell, as well as popcorn and you were expected to toss the shells onto the floor (early 70s)

can't remember what i ate there - just remember the peanut shells!

omg I loved Rax! My brother worked there and would always bring stuff home. I had forgotten about that.

Didnt somebody say Farrells still existed somewhere?

I ate at one in Charleson, WV last year. I'm not sure if it's still there. Monte Cristo - yum!!!

I miss Jack in the Box...it was cheap and close to school for lunch breaks.

I also miss Skipper's (I think that was the name) yummy fish, shrimp baskets and great sauces.

you can still get a tostada at the taco bell's around here.

How about Godfather's Pizza?? I miss their lunch buffet.

Farrell's - 3 Operating, one in California, 2 in Hawaii

HoJo - 3 Operating, Bangor, ME, Lake George, NY & Lake Placid, NY

There's Jack in the Box everywhere around here.

We still have Bennigan's back here.

I miss Don Pablo's. I know they are still around but nothing near me!! It's a must when we go up to Orlando!
