Restaurants off disney property

we have eaten at many of the off-site restaurants in the LBV and 192 areas over the years and although cheaper than disney restaurants; I would say that their menu prices are slighty HIGHER than there counterparts here in the midwest...

Could it be Bennigan's or Shenanigan's? We did not make it down to the other end of the "main drag" when you make a left out of DTD. Not sure what is down that way.

The name of the Irish restaurant is Fiddler's Green Pub and Eatery and it is located about 5 minutes fron downtown Orlando. I haven't been there but it was recommended to me on this board under the St Patrick's day posting

I just got back from Disney and wanted to let you all know we tried two restaurants off Disney property.

We went to Bahama Breeze which was wonderful and I would highly recommend it. The food that we had was very good ( We had shrimp over pasta, coconut shrimp, and a chicken dish)and the smaller sized chicken dinner that my husband ordered was quite large. We are definitely adding this to our next trip too. The pina colada's are to die for. A word of warning though, it can be very crowded and the wait was almost an hour long. They do have something called "Call Ahead" which is something like priority seating. Our wait time was about 15-20 minutes.

We also went to Landry's Seafood Rstaurant which happened to be very close to the Bahama Breeze restaurant we went to ( there are three in the area I believe). The wait was again about an hour. We went late ...around 7:15 so I would recommend trying it a little earlier on the weekend. The portions are quite large and the food was very good. I had stuffed shrimp and it was delicious although I thought the stuffing was spiced hotter than I prefer it to be. This place has a hugh menu. It also has a play place outside in front of the restaurant which would be great to use if you have young children with you. I will try this place again next trip as well.

Another vote for Peebles in the Crossroads Center. The twin filets are delicious!

Bahama Breeze is awesome! We went there because it was within walking distance from the hotel (we stayed at the Springhill Suites). The jerk shrimp appetizer is amazing and they have a great drink menu (if that's your thing of course ) As far as other chain restaurants that are great, Outback Steakhouse on Vineland was good and there is a Carrabba's Italian Grill. I work at the Carrabba's here in Asheville and if you like Italian, it's amazing. All of these are in the same price range.

Love this list. Most of these places are familiar and are places that I know we can do within budget. I have a $25 Landry's GC coming(that I was going to use a Rainforest), but I think we may try their seafood place. We are already doing Rainforest with VKLs and we were just going to go a second time with this. Anyone not familiar with Pizzaria Uno's, they have the BEST deep dish pizza. We go there a lot in our area. Don't know if they do it there, but here they have a really great deal for take-out on two pizzas. Saves a lot on their sit-down price for two pizzas, so if they have it, we may just take them back to the hotel.

Try the Crab House on Palm Parkway right off Apopka-Vineland Rd, across from the entrance to Hotel Blv leading into Disney. It has some of the freshest and best tasting sea food we have had. The flounder is my favorite. They have a very good cold shell fish buffet and a very extensive menu that features various kinds of fish and shell fish. The menu changes daily to insure freshness. Kids enjoy it, too. It is bright and sometimes loud and very good. We usually make 2 or 3 stops at the CH on every WDW trip.

We have a Bahama Breeze here in Novi, Michigan. It's wonderful! The wait is not so bad since the one here has a singer playing his guitar to tropical island, Jimmy Buffet type songs.

We stumbled upon a restaurant we at ate Christmas Eve 2001 called Race Rock Cafe in Orlando. It is similar to a Hard Rock Cafe with a race car/NASCAR theme.

Even though it is not close to Disney, we love the Sweet Tomatoes rest. It is a very fresh salad bar, with about 4 homemade soups, fruit bar, potato and sweet potato bar, hot breads (cornbread, gingerbread) and a pasta station. Very good and cheap!

Can't figure out why this was moved. We are talking about Restaurants we can go to when at Disney. Help me out here? I think people want to go to the restaurant board and see everything all at once. I have gone to Disney 12 times and until our March 2004 trip never ate off property and even then we ate only two non Disney meals This post has been so helpful to us. Now you have to look to find it

Sweet Tomatoes is excellent. The specialty salads (first thing on the buffet as soon as you get on line) are outstanding. There are usually four of them each day. There are about 5 soups, three pastas, lots of fresh baked goods. Our whole family loves it; including our kids. As we frequent Universal Studios, we usually go to the one at the intersection of International Drive and Kirkman Road. Here is a link to their website:

We also love Sweet Tomatoes! Went last year after reading about it on these boards, and went back again this past March. The whole family enjoys the variety and freshness of the food there. It really seems geared to vegetarians (we aren't) but with all the choices you don't miss having a large portion of meat. I believe they have chili, their soups are from scratch and are really yummy, baked potatoes, and fresh breads and desserts. Pastas are good and the salad bar is awesome! All for less than $9 per person!
