Restaurants Full

One thing no one has mentioned is LTT is closed so that's one whole restaurant out of the ADR pool making it harder to book any ADR in MK. I've not had any luck trying to get an ADR for Sci-fi in recent years at any time of the year so I'm not surprised you can't find one for there. There is definitely a lack of interesting places to make an ADR for IMO so anything new or different gets snapped u really quick. Also As others have said many book multiple reservations and will drop some as they firm up plans closer to arrival. I personally am not willing to pay someone to alert me when a possible ADR opportunity arises as I have better things to do with my hard earned money. No ADR is that important to me.

Free dining has become more popular every year. Those who get free dining book ADR's well in advance. We will be You have to pay a small amount, but it is worth it and you will probably get some or even most of what you want. We also went the same exact time last year and did not have quite as much trouble getting ressies. However, it really is just because free dining has gotten so popular. When popularity increases every year, eventually it comes to a point where ressie's are nearly impossible to get. I would not be surprised if they phase it out soon.

Seriously, I never knew that about the counter at Beaches and Cream. Good to know. Thanks

Once again, no. My family has traveled during free dining every year for as long as it has been offered. That is not the difference.

I'm not sure what you're trying to imply has happened and why you're being so rude? The restaurants are not accepting reservations because they're fully booked and that's that. They're fully booked due to a number of factors, but the main driving factor is free dining. Disney gets busier and busier every single year, so yes, as long as they continue to run free dining, the busier it will continue to get. There are other factors, such as the more limited free dining promotions, so people "grabbing them while they still can", etc. But this doesn't change the fact its down to free dining. If you don't like the answer, what one would you like instead?

Wow, a bit snarky. Apparently this year is different than the other years you traveled. If you do not like the answers, I suppose all you can do is keep asking the question until an answer pops up that you like and want to hear.
Or people could keep their rudeness to a minimum? If its not something helpful to say, then why bother?

And I do not think it is the free dining. How would nothing for no number of people be open at a few restaurants and then every 5 minutes at another? I do not think there would be that much of a difference if it was free dining. Everything would be booked solid then.

I am not being snarky. I am simply restating facts I already said. I do not think it is because of Free Dining. If it was, then EVERY restaurant would be booked. That is not the case.

At the risk of offending OP with my 2 cents, I do think free dining, combined with the ability to make ADRs 6 months out, is the biggest culprit. As noted above, people know when FD is going to be offered, anticipate it and book as soon as the 180-day window opens, which is usually well before FD is officially announced. So a popular restaurant could be completely booked by late March (in the OP's example travel dates), and FD might not be announced for another 2-3 months or later. It's certainly not how I would have designed it, but that's what Disney has set up and people are taking advantage of it.

You can think what you like, but it is true. It's the free dining and the greater attention to reserving restaurants for free dining early, combined with 1) larger crowds each year and 2) probably more knowledgable guests due to My Magic Plus. More guests know now that they need to have reservations for dining and FP. And you are within a month and a half of your visit.

Yes, free diners want the most popular restaurants. The problem is that those are the restaurants almost everybody wants.

It is also true that additional capacity at some restaurants is added later. which is why you may be seeing lots of reservations open at certain restaurants. But apparently these are not the restaurants you want to go to. I don't know which restaurants you want, but the popular ones are going to be full, and full early.

You're welcome?

I thought the humorous .gif was evidence enough that I was being facetious, but perhaps not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe I misinterpreted the .gif. Thanks for the explanation. I am just not buying the all booked up because of free dining reason. It is certain restaurants for the entire length of my 9 day trip. That seems odd to me.

Again, if you do not like the answers, stop asking the question.. People tried to help you, but you keep telling everyone they are wrong. Not every restaurant would be booked, nor is every restaurant booked. just the popular ones. I am actually going the same time as you less one day. i made my reservations at my 180 + 10 and got all I wanted .

Maybe I am confused about what restaurants are popular then. I have always seen openings for Sci-Fi Diner and Tony's. And I usually see Beaches and Cream in the afternoon. I also would think that Crystal Palace and other character meals would be booked up then and they are not. Also as one PP noted, they have looked from their 180 day and still nothing... That is odd.

Then what do you think or suspect the reason to be then?

Your logic is flawed - on free dining, people tend to try and "maximize" the value of the dining plan, opting to eat at more expensive restaurants, or try something they've not tried before, flipping general convention on its head. One of the first restaurants I have booked on my free dining was the Sci-Fi cafe because its quite unique. I don't care for the food style and I wouldn't normally bother, but since I've got more dining credits than I can possibly use, I'm going mainly to check it out.

We weren't even booked at 180 days. Nor have we ever been. Went the same time last year and got everything. One year, we booked 10 days ahead and got everything. This year is off. And it is not just because of FD.

The Yacht Club also goes back and forth between showing availability and being completely booked.

Then I stand corrected on Sci-Fi. We have always been able to get that at the last minute. Character meals should be booked. And if you are going with expense, then some restaurants at EPCOT should be booked that aren't. I was thinking more of a system error or, as someone mentioned, people holding out on reservations.

I just noticed that you are going in a little over a month..Not too much would be available .People grab what they want at the 180 mark.

Sci Fi does fill up often. Especially this late.

Tony's is at MK. As noted, with the closure of LTT there is a dearth of restaurant space at MK.

It's probably not a system error. But some persons might be holding reservations they intend on releasing closer to their trip.

Well then its not just Free Dining. You listed other reasons. Thanks for proving my point.
