You're welcome? No. That does not nail it. It does not explain why this year is different from every other time I have visited. But thanks for replying without helping.
True. But one exception that I know of: the counter at Beaches & Cream is held for walk-ups.And no, They do not hold things up for walk ups.
Once again, no. My family has traveled during free dining every year for as long as it has been offered. That is not the difference.
Or people could keep their rudeness to a minimum? If its not something helpful to say, then why bother?Wow, a bit snarky. Apparently this year is different than the other years you traveled. If you do not like the answers, I suppose all you can do is keep asking the question until an answer pops up that you like and want to hear.
I am not being snarky. I am simply restating facts I already said. I do not think it is because of Free Dining. If it was, then EVERY restaurant would be booked. That is not the case.I'm not sure what you're trying to imply has happened and why you're being so rude? The restaurants are not accepting reservations because they're fully booked and that's that. They're fully booked due to a number of factors, but the main driving factor is free dining. Disney gets busier and busier every single year, so yes, as long as they continue to run free dining, the busier it will continue to get. There are other factors, such as the more limited free dining promotions, so people "grabbing them while they still can", etc. But this doesn't change the fact its down to free dining. If you don't like the answer, what one would you like instead?
Maybe I misinterpreted the .gif. Thanks for the explanation. I am just not buying the all booked up because of free dining reason. It is certain restaurants for the entire length of my 9 day trip. That seems odd to me.You're welcome?
I thought the humorous .gif was evidence enough that I was being facetious, but perhaps not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At the risk of offending OP with my 2 cents, I do think free dining, combined with the ability to make ADRs 6 months out, is the biggest culprit. As noted above, people know when FD is going to be offered, anticipate it and book as soon as the 180-day window opens, which is usually well before FD is officially announced. So a popular restaurant could be completely booked by late March (in the OP's example travel dates), and FD might not be announced for another 2-3 months or later.
I do not think it is because of Free Dining. If it was, then EVERY restaurant would be booked. That is not the case.
We weren't even booked at 180 days. Nor have we ever been. Went the same time last year and got everything. One year, we booked 10 days ahead and got everything. This year is off. And it is not just because of FD.Again, if you do not like the answers, stop asking the question.. People tried to help you, but you keep telling everyone they are wrong. Not every restaurant would be booked, nor is every restaurant booked. just the popular ones. I am actually going the same time as you less one day. i made my reservations at my 180 + 10 and got all I wanted .
Then what do you think or suspect the reason to be then?
Your logic is flawed - on free dining, people tend to try and "maximize" the value of the dining plan, opting to eat at more expensive restaurants, or try something they've not tried before, flipping general convention on its head. One of the first restaurants I have booked on my free dining was the Sci-Fi cafe because its quite unique. I don't care for the food style and I wouldn't normally bother, but since I've got more dining credits than I can possibly use, I'm going mainly to check it out.
You can think what you like, but it is true. It's the free dining and the greater attention to reserving restaurants for free dining early, combined with 1) larger crowds each year and 2) probably more knowledgable guests due to My Magic Plus. More guests know now that they need to have reservations for dining and FP. And you are within a month and a half of your visit.
Yes, free diners want the most popular restaurants. The problem is that those are the restaurants almost everybody wants.
It is also true that additional capacity at some restaurants is added later. which is why you may be seeing lots of reservations open at certain restaurants. But apparently these are not the restaurants you want to go to. I don't know which restaurants you want, but the popular ones are going to be full, and full early.
