Restaurant reviews and recipes...formerly Disney QOTD

I realized something the other day. I've been going every year since 2004, so every year I would get the Disney World calendar. And since I'm not going this year, no calendar. And you can't buy it anywhere else. I love that calendar, it's so pretty. :sad1:

I got the calendar last year, Missy.
If they have them out when I go, I will be glad to pick one up for you.
And if they aren't, maybe someone else going a bit later will get us both one ::yes::

I would be happy to pick two up if you have no luck next week Nancy~

QOTD 9-11

Have you ever done something special to brighten another guest's day while at Disney?

One year my sister was supposed to go, but the day before we were to leave she fell on some ice. We gave her MMVCP ticket to a person we meet and told him where to buy one for his wife.

We have given fast passes to people if we weren't going to use them.

I have given stickers to children (with parents permission).

We will give up our seats on the buses to people who need them.

That would be awesome! Of course, I will pay for all postage. I've found them when I've taken my September trips, so it is possible they are available now.

Wow on the ticket! that was really nice.

I've given away Fastpasses & I always give up my seat on a bus.

Always will give seat up on bus. (it does aggravate me how many people will not, even when elderly people are standing...grr)

Last time there, a woman was walking out of a restroom at Epcot and I noticed that her skirt was tucked into her panties. Ran out of there to let her know immediately. Had it been me, I would've wanted to know as well...how humiliating.

Thank you, Maria.....I will let you know.

Last year we got them, but we didn't go until Nov.....one year I looked all over for them (and asked) and they weren't out yet and that was in Oct. Hopefully that was just a late year and they will be there.

Wow...Heidi that was really nice of you ::yes::

Trish, I would have wanted to know too

WE have never given away fast-passes or received them from someone. We rarely have ever needed to use them.

DH always takes photos for people.
And gives away his great Mickey and Tink earrings to brides that are walking around the parks.

I gave a few pins to a little girl and her brother.
We were waiting to be seated at Sci Fi and the family standing next to us was talking about the pins the kids were wearing. The mother noticed that the little girl had lost ANOTHER pin off her lanyard (I have lost a few and don't wear them anymore), so I told her she could have one of mine.....so of course her brother wanted one too ;) So he got one and she got two. They were so cute, he was ready to give me one off his lanyard anyway.

Used to give up seats on the bus, but now I am one of the old ones :rotfl: And no one has offered to give up there seat for me.....yet. ;)

Oh yes. And I seldom work in the parks. (Have Cross U'd a few times. Twice on NYE. :scared1: :rotfl: )
MY FAVORITE was a Dream Come True. :cloud9: NYE, Cross U at a Pin Station. :cheer2: Basically just there to answer questions and try to be helpful. However, I got to give away probably a few dozen pin sets. (The Tink two pin set where it was one to keep and one to share.)
Never Cross U'd since as I figure that was my once in a lifetime chance. :santa:

Could not count how many pins I have given away over the years to kids in the parks.
Given away FPs if we could not use them. (And luckily have rec'd some too. )
Once I was able to use my (then) DDE discount on a another guest's bill. Felt sorry for the family. We were at a buffet seated next to them and their 3 kids barely ate anything. A few bites of cheese pizza and that was about it. That was a lot of $ for a family of 5 with 3 non-eaters. Couldn't do that any more I am sure. That was probably back in 2004.
Try to share the magic when I can. It's contagious. Can't help it. :rotfl2:

We LOVE to do ROAK's in the parks!

We have actually made a bit of a contest of it with our kids. What can you do today to make someone elses day more magical? Its fun!

This year we brought 100 glow stick necklaces! We handed them out every night at the parades/night shows. Just the look on 1 kid's face was worth the price to buy them on ebay!! And our kids enjoyed handing them out as much as we did.

We always offer to take pictures when we see a group posing.

We give away fastpasses we aren't using. with a 3 yr old there are several ride he doesn't ride, but we go ahead and get the FP. Many times it ends up that one or more of us won't ride either. So we find a couple heading for the line and give them the 2 extras.

We get as many of the free stickers at the stores as we can and give those out to kiddos. I'm amazed at number of people that ask us where we got them and don't now that the stores give them away.

I've given away my cheapo rain ponchos.

I ALWAYS tell the CM's to have magical day. It usually puts a smile on their face. I think they are so use to saying but are suprise to hear it.

That reminds me of the time earlier this year when I was at the American Idol Experience parade. Several of us were given Mickey balloons.
After the parade I gave mine to a little girl in a stroller.
Not having kids I did not realize how something as simple as a balloon could put a smile on a kid's face. :cutie:

No, but would love to go on a Disney cruise. We're taking a cruise next February but not a Disney cruise, DH just thought it was too much money compared to other cruise lines. Plus, we have another couple going with us and they're not as into Disney as I am. With that said our next cruise (hopefully in several years) is going to be a Disney one and my DH can join me or just stay home and I'll go without him.

No, but I really would like to do either one of the Caribbean cruises. I have taken a cruise before with DH and the next time I'd like to take the kids as well. If that happens, I'm hoping we will do DCL. pirate:

I have only been on one Disney cruise (5 cruises all together)....love DCL. Of course, it is Disney.
We went on the west bound Panama repo in May 2008. It was wonderful!! Wish we could fit in the Wonder repo in 2011, but since my second Disney cruise (with BFF) is the eastbound transatlantic in Sept. 2010, don't think that is going to happen.

I love  cruising.

No on a cruise, would like to try, but John won't go near the water.

Oops, I missed yesterday so I'll answer too!

I have also given fastpasses away (and have also recieved them), taken photos for couples and families in the parks (we often find seen as there are 2 of us if we offer to take a photo for another couple or family they will then do the same for us.) At Disneyland last year a little girl had just got her 1st lanyard and 1st pin, she was looking at the pins on my lanyard so I gave her one of mine.

As for a cruise, we keep talking about doing the land sea package on a future Disney trip. But I get really sea sick so don't think it would be a great holiday for me. I have done 2 1 night cruises to Holland before when I was younger. The 1st time there was a force 10 gale and no amount of travel sickness medication worked for that trip. The 2nd time we did that trip we didn't even get to Holland, we ended up in Belgium! The tug drivers in Holland were on strike so we couldn't get into the port. As it was a large ship the nearest port we could dock at was in Belgium. This was before the days of the Euro, so we ended up in Belgium with only Danish and English money!!
