Restaurant reviews and recipes...formerly Disney QOTD

Didn't figure it would be this year....too soon for everyone to plan .....and then of course to get VWL.
We don't own there either......does any exchanger???

I don't get more points until 2011  Could borrow though.

That's what I was thinking also!!

We've only eaten at Chief Mickey (dinner), O'Hana's (breakfast), Cape May (breakfast), and WC (dinner). Out of these TS meals I would pick O'Hana's as my favorite.

Hey Nancy by the way I own at VWL!!!;)

Aww...so you are booking for us :teeth:

That is next on our "to buy" list, but figure we should stay there once first....so that is the next place to stay.
And....can't buy anything until this house sells!!

I was between VWL and BLT when I added on last winter, ended up adding on at BLT (2 small contracts). Hopefully I'm not disappointed with BLT, if so I can always sell one of my BLT contracts and add on at VWL. I just love the theming of WL, would love to own there. Our next trip will be at BLT, than I will know for sure.

We've been to quite a few resort restaurants and none of them wowed me.
Haven't tried any of the signature restaurants yet though, so maybe I need to step it up ;)

So for now.....Garden View Lounge. Love going to tea.
Scones and chocolate covered strawberries...yum.

Sure Nancy I would book for you in a heart beat!!!!!;) Just ask!! I have stayed there and it is really nice!! One of the great features is the villas are not "connected" to the lodge,it is a short walk to the entrance of the villas building! It's away from the hustle and bustle of the main lodge so you can go to the action if you want and you are not staying in the middle of it!! Nice feature!!:thumbsup2

Jean I own at BLT and we are staying there in December for the first time!! I am very excited!!!:cool1: Ever since I visited the models at SSR with our friends (who by the way bought into BLT after seeing it on the tour!!!) I have been looking forward to this stay!! :thumbsup2 The rooms are beautiful!!! So spacious, and with great views!! The 2 bathrooms and a unit that now sleeps 5 (for us anyways) is a huge plus!! I have been reading reviews by people that have stayed there and they loved it!! Our kids LOVE the MK it's their favorite park and being in walking distance and right on the monorail is another bonus!! :thumbsup2:cool1::laughing: But adding on to VWL would be great too!! It's a great resort! Beautiful and peaceful, well the villas are peaceful anyway!!!!;):rotfl:
I hope you enjoy your time there!! I would love to hear what you think of it after your stay!!;)

That is one of the reasons we love the Beach Club Villas, being away from the hustle of the main hotel. Plus for us Epcot is our favourite park so being able to walk to it easily is a huge plus (expecially good after the mass leaving of the park after Illuminations when we just stroll out of the international gateway and are quickly back in our room - taking the path around the back of the Beach Club back to the villas helps too!)

We also own at BWV and that was one of the reasons we bought there, the easy access to EPCOT!! We enjoyed being on the boardwalk especially when the kids were younger,(not that they don't enjoy it now that they are older I think they may even like it MORE!!:confused3:laughing:) not just for the easy access to EPCOT but that the Boardwalk had so much to do at night!! The restaurants, the entertainment, the games, shops and easy access to the other hotels just a walk away!!! It is a real unique place and with a wonderful after "park" atmosphere!! So I so understand why you love BCV!!!!;):thumbsup2

WL is like home :rotfl: Since it is modeled in a Pacific Northwest theme.....after the Old Faithful Inn, I beleive.
DH loves it. All about the architecture with him ;)
Our very favorite is DGC.....same basid layout, but with Art and Craft Architecture. We bought at OKW so we could buy at VGC when they became available.
He goes on the little free tour they do every time and ends up leading it :rotfl: He knows so much about it.
The kids want to stay somewhere closer to a park than OKW next time we go as a family, so hopefully we can get in at BLT, VWL or BCV....we'll see. Not sure when that trip will happen again. So hard to work around every one's schedules.

Okay, we've eaten at :
Trail's End
WCC
Chef Mickey's
'Ohana
Kona
Grand FL Cafe
Garden View Lounge
Boatwright's
Olivia's
Cape May
Boma
Kimono's
Big River Grille
hmmmm....probably more

Of those....Boma wins for breakfast!! The brioche French toast is to die for....I break my dietary restrictions for it.
The other's have all been good and we have been to most of them multiple times, but they haven't blown me away.

I've been reading reviews also and have gotten mixed emotions. I was planning on staying in a 2 BR villa with a MK view, but now I'm thinking why spend the extra pts for the MK view after reading some of the reviews. I might just stay in the 2 BR Lake view and watch the fireworks from the top of the building. I just love the location of BLT, that's why we purchased BCV for the location and being able to walk to EPCOT.

What view did you reserve for December? Please give me a review after your trip, I won't be heading back down to WDW until Jan., 2011 unless I can talk my DH into a earlier trip.

Will do Jean!! When I first called I could only get MK view 4 nights so had to book lake view 3 nights!!:scared1::sad2: Needless to say DH wasn't too happy and frankly neither was I that I would have to pack up and move 5 OF US to another room!!!:scared1: We did however get put on a waiting list for all 7 nights and they came through!! :woohoo: We now have all 7 nights MK view!! I am thrilled!!! :yay: At least for our first time ever stay I'm glad we have all MK view!! Our DVC rep says he prefers lake view!! I think if I stay again I will be happy whatever I am able to book since there is a place we can go to watch the fireworks!! One thing I am very impressed with the steps they are trying to take with the security at BLT by no one being able to access the walk way or any part of BLT without a room key!! That will be great if they can pull it off!!
Here's hoping you can talk DH into a trip before 2011!! I'll keep my fingers crossed!!;):rotfl:

I'm excited for you that your waitlist came through, I also don't like to move in the middle of my vacation. Since you have MK view make sure you put a request in with MS to be on a higher floor, that's where you will have the better views. I'm sure you will love BLT and being so close to the MK.

Breakfast at Boatwrights (POR) dinner is good too. Unfortunately they weren't serving breakfast this past Feb. :(

I don't know that we have a favorite WDW restaurant. But Maya Grill (CSR) and Turf Club (SSR) are right up at the top.
For breakfast, DH is a Tonga Toast fan (Kona Cafe). Much too sweet for my taste.

You know, I just remembered I ate at Park Faire a few years ago. Didn't like it, which is probably why I wiped it from my memory.

Jiko at AKL. I had the most amazing fish I've ever eaten. I wish I could remember what kind. The potatoes and roasted veggies were really good too. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: That reminds me, we have eaten there too.....breakfast was good, but dinner was the worst thing we have experienced.
Guess I wiped it too ;)

Resort TS, I have several favourites!
California Grill @ the Contemporary. Seen as the menu changes often I don't have a favourite item, although I do usually order a flat bread to start with.

Yachtsmans Steakhouse @ Yacht Club: I love the filet mignion, we have that every trip!!

I also enjoyed Sanaa at AKL Kidani Village, I had the fish which was really nice.

I am going to try Saana in Sept.....with Barbara :yay:
