Restaurant Recommendation for NYC Times Square Theatre District?

If you like Thai food, I love Yum Yum Bangkok. They have a good pre-theatre prix fixe menu. I also enjoy Five Napkin Burger. Or if you like ramen, Ippudo West Side is fantastic.

I am NOT a fan of Carmine's.

I second Restaurant Row. There are about two dozen restaurants on the block. When we go to NY, we usually pick a place there.

Just did Carmine's in Las Vegas so don't know how it compares to Times Square but it was just "okay." I liked both times that we ate at Guy Fieri's restaurant in Time's Square (but had a terrible meal in the Vegas one!)

Becco is a short walk and very good! Dh and I also like bisteca fiorentina.

My friend and I were in NYC in September - one night before a cruise. We had dinner at Junior's as it was right behind our hotel -- The Marriott Marquis. Food was very good. It was quite busy, but it was a Friday night and the Pope had been in NYC that day. So, people everywhere!

E&E Grillhouse on 49th Street. Delicious steaks! We went to see Book of Mormon last week and this was directly across the street. I highly recommend it.

I'd recommend walking over to 46th between 8th and 9th, which is known as restaurant row. There are tons of good restaurants on that street that won't be as touristy as the ones right in TS (please, please don't go to Ellen's Stardust Diner if you actually want good food).
I've actually never had a bad meal there! I mean... It's not five-star, but I've never been disappointed in what I've ordered.

We find Carmine's "meh." I think I make a better red sauce. Also, it's "family style" so you'd better bring BIG appetites and everyone better be prepared to agree on ordering the same thing or you are going to have LOTS of leftovers.

We like Becco at 355 W. 46th St, between 8th and 9th Aves. This is one of Lydia Bastianich's restaurants, and the food is wonderful. It's also incredibly reasonably-priced for a full-service restaurant in NYC/Hell's Kitchen. IIRC, entrees come with breads-n-spreads, not sure if it comes w/salad (but I think so). We often enjoy the sinfonia di paste, which is all you care to eat of 3 or 4 of the day's pasta. They also have a terrific wine list with about 75 options for $29 a bottle. We try to go to Becco every time we are in NYC!

Et Cetera, Et Cetera at 352 W. 44th, between 8th and 9th Aves. This is a small, trendy Italian place. We have eaten there twice. The first time, everyone had pasta and it was amazing! The 2nd time, the pasta was good, the prix fixe meals were almost inedible, but management was more than generous in making things right, to the point that we'll definitely go back- although we'll probably stick to the pasta!

Havana Central, 151 W. 46th St. between 6th and 7th Aves. This is just off Times Square. I don't know how it measures up against "real" Cuban food, but what we've had for dinner has been delicious, well-prepared, generous portions, and the prices are palatable, too! Remember... you are in Manhattan, in Times Square, so you'll pay more than at home, most likely, but still, the prices are reasonable.

These are our favorite places to eat in the Times Square area!

I would recommend Trattoria Trecolori also, but make sure you get a reservation as the place is small. We have eaten there several times before a show and have always had good food. Another place I recommend is John's Pizza. The pizza is good but you can have other italian dishes too, so you aren't limited to just pizza. Best thing is that it is housed in what was a church!

We have also made the trek down to the Hell's Kitchen area and eaten at one of the Thai places (I think Yum Yum) -- good but not great.

Oh and I forgot Havana Central -- we've had their paella --to die for.

Every time we go in, no matter where we eat, we always end the day with a piece of cheesecake from Junior's. Best in the city :-)

Whatever you do -- have fun in the city!

Our last trip into the city we ate at Maria Pia 319 W 51st ST and it was Excellent!!! It is in the theater district, and it is just as good or better than our favorite Little Italy restaurant that closed (the owners retired). We will be eating there again. If you are in the Times Square area Ceci is also very good. Carmines is good, but you need reservations a long time in advance to be sure of getting in, and it is not the best Italian restaurant I've eaten in.

Wow great suggestions thanks so much. Definitely want place accepting reservations
