Has anyone got any recent experiences at Restaurant Marrakesh?

Am thinking about booking there for next year - it's somewhere I've always wanted to try but have read some unflattering reviews of the food.

Marrakesh is a decent restaurant. It is more toned down then more authentic Moroccan restaurants but I had a pretty good experience when I've eaten there. I prefer both Tangerine Cafe and Spice Road Table to Marrakesh personally but think it is good enough to at least try once.

I haven't tried it but love Tangerine Cafe. For a up to date review I would check Trip Advisor.

I also love Tangierine Cafe and we are definitely going back there! Will check Trip Advisor.

I went for lunch in February. Had the lamb meshoui (shank). It was excellent. I also enjoyed the mint tea service (hot tea). The interior decor/theming is incredible. The service was great. I don't think the belly dancer was performing as I was there for an early lunch. There were musicians playing. Food & service great. Will be going back.

We had on OK time at Marrakesh. The service was not good. I think the portions are small for the price. Agree tangerine cafe is much better, cheaper and you can still feel the experience of being in Morrocco without have to go inside the fancier restaurant

We had a terrific lunch last December. A huge lunch: the lamb dish could have fed Tangiers for a week. It's tame Moroccan cuisine, closer to "Mediterranean," but presented with finesse and in a beautiful setting -- the interior design is impressive and austere and beautiful. I can imagine how this restaurant might've freaked people the hell out in 1986 when tabbouleh wasn't available in your Safeway.

We were there 2 weeks ago. While it was pretty good, we all agreed it was our least favorite dinner of our 9 day vacation. Tangierine, on the other hand, we completely love!!

DH and I ate there for dinner in March and really enjoyed it, so we're going back in Nov. with our DS's. As pp's said the interior is just beautiful. I thought the portion size was fine and we both loved our meals and were pleasantly surprised by dessert, which was brought to us after we declined as we were celebrating our anniversary :)

We've never tried Tangeriene Cafe but after reading so many positive things about it I think we'll try there in Nov., also!

We love Restaurant Marrakesh.
The restaurant is beautiful, the service is warm and friendly and the food is very good.
Enjoy

I think the food is under seasoned. I wasn't looking for spicy hot, just more flavor. I would give it a C+ and worth a try.

I totally agree with this, it was just bland. I ended up having the beef brewat roll and the Jasmina Salad for an entree. Not enough to fill up on. My other family members were not impressed at all with their entrees. It used to be our favorite years ago.

I love Marrakesh. I have 10+ food allergies/intolerances and they've still managed to find something to cook for me that wasn't seasoned with just salt and pepper. The food was great and the service was just as great. It's almost never packed in there so you can relax a bit easier. I also really enjoy the music and the belly dancer, watching the kids get up and dance is so cute.

Another vote for yes, I like all three restaurants in Morocco and try to hit each one every trip. I've never had bad service there, love the decor and it was plenty of food for me but we always get an appy and an entre.

Definitely, that is what I meant buy toned down when compared to more authentic Moroccan restaurants. I do wish they were closer to some of the great authentic Moroccan places I've eaten at over the years but don't think it is bland, just under spiced.

We ate there last month and loved it. We will be going back without a doubt. We sure didn't leave hungry

I've always liked it but one thing to be aware of is that it can get a little noisy in there. With all that tile there isn't much to absorb the sound.

Thanks to the OP. I have been wondering the same thing. Just read all the replies and was wondering, since the quality of food isn't the best, what about the entertainment value? Is the belly dancing fun for the whole family or more geared for kids?
TIA
