What's the overall restaurant availability like at the moment in the parks? Is the DDP still killing availability for most restaurants ? Are there many restaurants you can still walk up and get a table? We had the DDP last year, but haven't taken it this year, for both occasions we made ADRs way in advance. We have obviously booked less this year (no DDP) just wondering what chances we have of adding any table service reservations once we are there if we need to.

I think that would depend on when you are going. I think anytime they are offering "Free Dining" it would be more difficult to get a walk up ADR. Currently they are not offering this but in the fall they are and it may be more crowded in the TS restaurants.

disneyworld.com/dining shows 63 restaurants available for dinner tonight.
I routinely make reservations the day before, or even the morning of, for dinner and have even done so during peak summer when the parks are slammed. True, I typically am not eating at Chef Mickey's. Then again, that's not really a bad thing.

I've never been during the hurricane/give-away-food-so-people-will-come season, though, so YMMV.

Twice this year I've walked up to the reservation booth at DHS and made lunch ADRs for the Brown Derby for the same day. That's the closest I've come to walking up without a reservation in a park.

It's been offered for most of the year to the Brits! And looks like next year will be the same, lots of advertising for it in the UK !
