Restaurant and meal recommendations! (aka. "You must try this!!!")

Lobster hamburger at Grand Floridian Cafe.

Yummy!!!
:goodvibes

I also recommend the chocolate fondue dessert there.

Its just about the perfect meal!!!

Favorite meals - California Grill, Jiko, Teppan Edo, Tutto Italia, Raglan Road. Sushi at California Grill is my all time favorite Disney meal.

Restaurants to avoid - I'm a big believer in trying everything once, and we've never had a meal at Disney so bad that I'd warn others away. Restaurants I don't plan to go back to - Pecos Bills & Cosmic Rays, for the chaotic-busy table hunt at meal times, Yak & Yeti and Planet Hollywood for the very LOUD atmosphere (both had pretty good food, though), Ohana because the meat-fest just isn't my thing.

Most atmospheric - Sci-fi (just stick to the burgers & onion rings, they don't do their more involved dishes as well). Cinderella's Royal Table (so-so food, but the experience of eating in the castle makes it worth doing once). California Grill at sunset or during the fireworks.

Must try desserts - The almond crusted cheesecake at Narcoosees! Honorable mention to the pineapple & cream cheese wontons at Yak & Yeti.

Must try snacks - As you may have gathered from my dessert list, I'm not big on sweets. Dole whip floats are nice, refreshing and not too sweet, and the chocolate covered strawberries at Main Street Confectionery are huge and fresh, but I use most of my snacks for drinks or fruit.

Best alcoholic drinks - Nothing beats a glass of rosa regale and a nice spot to watch Illuminations. The ice wine flight at Artist Point was lovely. I had a wonderful moscato d'asti on our waitress's recommendation at California Grill, but I can't remember the name now. And the Marsha's Martian (milkshake with Baileys and Kahula) at Sci-Fi.

citricos and flying fish are two of our must do restaurants. my fav app at citricos is the sauteed shrimp with the lemon, white wine, tomatoes, and feta cheese. flying fish has fantastic grilled swordfish. for us they are two must do places. both have some of the best service we've had at wdw.

a place for us that falls under must do for one reason also falls under our "only so so" for actual food and that's 1900 park fare...IF you like the cinderella story. the step sisters were HYSTERICAL. the food was typical buffet food. we never laughed so hard over a meal.

a not to miss place for us regarding alcoholic drinks would be la cava del tequila inside the mexican pavillion at epcot. great drinks, great atmosphere that's small and quaint, great staff, great tapas. the little crab tostadas are to die for in particular.

we also always pick at least 2 places that fall under our rule of "eating outside the box"...we find a place that's different from things we can get at home. that's where places like jiko (for instance) come in for us.

Here are my answers....

1)Most favorite meals are (sorry no pictures): Breakfast at Akershus in Norway...Lunch at Le Cellier....Dinner at either California Grill or at Yachtsman's Steakhouse (signature restaurants)

2) Restaurants we stay away from are: Chef Mickeys because everything is rushed and the food is not that great (tried it a few times and we decided no more), for CS stay away from the ABC Commissary at DHS....just plain BAD. Also, we stay away from H&V at DHS because it is dirty, food is gross, and the service is not good. Lastly, we don't like Captain Jack's Restaurant due to food served cold, not great atmosphere, and the service was lack luster.

3) Most atmospheric restaurant would have to be California Grill because of the location plus the view is just breathtaking.

4) Must try desserts would have to be the Chocolate "Moose" dessert at Le Cellier, the Chocolate Wave at Coral Reef, the Smore's Dessert at 50's PT Cafe, No Way Jose Sundae at Beaches and Cream, and a hot fudge sundae at Ghiridelli's in DTD

5) Must try snacks are: Mickey Premium ice cream bars and Dole whip floats

6) Favorite alcoholic drinks: DH says "Epcot, enough said!!!!", my response is a Grand Marinier in France and the Pina Colava from anywhere in Disney.

7) Any other recommendations: The one thing about Disney dining is that there is just so much of it, that it just depends on what you and your family would like to do. Definitely go to allears.net and check out the different menus before deciding on the restaurants you want to eat at, other than that have fun and don't stress yourself out too much trying to decide.
