I was having lunch with some casual friends today and happened to get into a discussion about the fact that one family is headed to WDW in two weeks. We had the usual discussion "Where are they staying....are they on the dining plan, etc." When we got to "Where are you eating?" We discovered that they didn't know that they needed to make ressies in avance. They hadn't planned specific days for each park yet and were planning on just walking in or making ressies that day. I dont' think they really even knew much about what restaurants there are.

Anyway, a few of us at the table gave him some advice about looking up touring plans online and the importance of making reservations this week-end (since it can't be sooner). I made out a list of suggested places that would be good for a family with somewhat young children (7 and 5).

What are his chances of getting reasonable times in two weeks? I thought he might be able to find some things in the 4:00 range...they won't want the 9:00pm times...too late for their kids.

It depends on where your friend wants to go. If he's planning on Boma or Le Cellier or California Grill, chances are extremely slim that he will find availability. If, however, he's willing to go to places like Cape May Cafe or the Turf Club, then he will probably find openings. We're locals, so we know that there are very few last-minute availabilities.

Cheers!
