It certainly could. Remember that you will be charged the $95 transfer charge for booking outside of DVC.

Usually, but it depnds upon when your use year ends. It is my understanding, under the new banking rules and deadlines, that trades into the Disney collection must be reserved 4 months prior to the end of your use year. You can still stay during that time period, but the reservation has to be made under the guidelines.

It is also subject to a $95 fee. If you want the GF for Feb 08, I would book ASAP, as I don't think they will begin charging the fee until January 1.

Is the time frame changing ?- from the member website about booking the Disney Collection:

Reminder: 60-Day Rule
You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection, (excluding Disneyland© Resort Hotels in California), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 60 days of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 60 days of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 60 days before the end of your Use Year

IF I remember correctly you can book from 11 months up until two days before you arrive if there is availability as long as you are not within that last 60 days of your Use Year. I booked at DLH a few days before arrival but they are an exception anyway. They do have a different cancellation policy to get points returned to you so you need to be aware of the time frame for that. The points also retain a reservation status classification and may not be used at a DVC resort if you do have to cancel.

The new thing is the $95 exchange fee which goes into effect in 2008. I guess I missed if if there are other changes for these exchanges in 2008.

Yes, that is the current policy - good thru the end of 2007. Beginning on January 1 we can bank 100% thru eight months and also need to reserve non-DVC stays by the same deadline. No banking beyond 8 months and no reservations at non-DVC resorts for stays during the last 4 months of the Use Year may be made during that same time period. In addition, the $95 charge - for all but DL stays - begins on January 1.
