Resorts You Regret

We have a bucket list... trying to stay at all the resorts! I will say my son and DH are hotel snobs :rotfl: They LOVE deluxes for various reasons. I do not regret staying at any resort, I tend to say it was an experience! :lmao:

My least favorite was CSR, did not like the theme. We never even used the pool. The location of our room was wonderful!

DH and DS do not like any of the values. We have stayed at each one.

We love BC!!!! This is the top of our list! The pool is amazing! A close second is BW! We love that area.

This year DH and DS want to stay ay CM and BLT! Location, location, location!

DD LOVES disney and LOVES every resort! So easy to please! :)

My husband will say BCV. The people just didn't seem as friendly as anywhere we stayed. The location was great, but it just wasn't our cup of tea.

AoA. By our second night there I was on my computer checking rates to switch to a Deluxe, any Deluxe. At that point, the rates were too high for me to switch. Never, ever again.

I don't think we've "regretted" any resort choices. I just take it as a learning experience not to repeat. Only two resorts are on our "not to repeat" list so far:

All-Stars (too far, too noisy, too over-the-top) and GF (meh. Room was noisy, non-helpful CMs. Didn't see much of a difference for the cost.)

POR is on our "one more chance" list. Previously we stayed and liked it. This time we had problems with Mousekeeping and buses. The bathouse was disgusting. My dad had HUGE issues with them regarding a business document. (he had to work one day he was there - couldn't get any help. CMs actually suggested he take his laptop to one of the parks for fax service.) Because of our previous experience, we'd give it one more shot. If we didn't have good experiences previously, we would nix that one too.

We don't regret this trip, but our stay at CBR was not the greatest. I think it was our choice of room as we wanted to try the pirate room, and the walk back and forth to fill our mugs was WAY too long after doing it a few times per day everyday..... And a "quick" breakfast before the parks was usually a mild disaster by the time DH walked to the food court, ordered, and carried our food back on a tray:lmao: Not funny at the time when we were hungry and in a hurry, but it's all good now...

Regret: Wilderness Lodge.

Although this is an absolutely beautiful resort, and the cast members were so nice and friendly, we had issues with transportation. The buses were slow and packed. During the time we were there, boat transportation to the MK was shared with FW. I think this has changed since we visited, and there is a boat that runs back forth between just the WL and MK. We felt like we wasted so much time shuttling to and from the parks, and it didn't help that our son was 2 at the time.

Collective Family Favorite: BWI

Love the room we had overlooking the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake. We also love all the monorail resorts: CR, GF, and Poly. For our family, location is a priority, and we try to stay at resorts that are close to at least one of the parks.

I don't know that I regret it so much, but Pop was not for me. It was a shorter trip with just me and my ODS so I was looking for cheap and it was that. I just didn't care for the resort itself.

Mine is Pop also, it was crowded every time when went to get food, crowded in the shopping area, we stood almost every time on the buses, and it was when they had record cold temps which didnt help us to enjoy the resort either .

For us the one resort we haven't liked was Ft. Wilderness Cabins. It was nice, but way too hard for me to get the kids to parks and back.

None for us, I would say our least favorite may be Caribbean Beach, we love most of the hotels!

I regret staying at POR this past October. The bus service was horrible, my son hardly used the pool slide (which I thought would be a big success with him), and did I mention the bus service was atrocious? Not worth the extra I spent on it over Pop Century, where I wish we had stayed. Checking into Pop in 11 days! :cool1:

:thumbsup2 As a family of 5 we were forced into POR and don't like it at all. Thought it was a fluke that the buses were HORRIBLE and rebooked this past year. Nope, it was worse. We loved all the values, but not fans of the family suites, so would have to book 2 rooms. We were much happier with the values. After staying value so many times, I can't imagine why anyone complains about buses there, apparently they never stayed at POR. But I am positive next Disney trip, we will be back at ASMo, in 2 rooms. Would rather pay 2 rooms than stay POR.

Pop Century. It served its purpose for us because we were with a large group of friends who wouldn't have wanted to spring for a moderate or deluxe resort, but my boyfriend and I definitely felt that it lacked the Disney magic that we feel at POR. The pool bar was nice, though; we all spent a lot of time sitting out there at night. It wasn't a horrible place, I just don't think we will be staying there again.

Have stayed at..Pop, AoA, ASMusic, POR (DxL), CR, BLT, BCV, OKW, SSR, S/D, BWV, VWL, Kidani, AKL.
I liked Music the first time we stayed there..back in '03. Really didn't like it at all last June..but that's probably due to the fact that we have stayed at so many other places since '03. Would I stay there again? I doubt it...really couldn't wait to get out of there in June.
the other one would be the Polynesian...I know, perish the thought!!! We were supposed to be at POR, then got a great deal at WL. Then, an even better deal came out so we booked the Polynesian...dd had always wanted to stay there. Well..it's nice enough, but it's just not 'all that and a bag of chips' so to speak..at least for us. In fact, after we got there, I asked my dd what she thought..her answer? 'well, I guess it's okay, but I kind of wish we were at POR..it just seems more magical and Disney there'. I thought I was going to throttle her!!!!
Since then, we bought DVC at BWV and BLT..so stay DVC mostly. But we do like Pop and AoA for those quickie, budget trips!

The ones I liked the least:

I think that SSR is the least Disney-like, but I know that is what some people prefer after being immersed in it.

The AKL & Villas and the WL & V are WAY too DARK, but beautifully decorated.

The 2 bedroom villas at the SSR and WVL and maybe more, are laid out funny. Too much space dedicated to bathrooms! And all those bathroom doors are confusing! There is also a completely useless front entry that makes the living area super tiny. I don't know how a group at full room capacity could function there.

All the deluxe resorts with regular hotel rooms. I couldn't justify the cost. It is cheaper to stay in a villa even if you have to rent points.

The ones I like the best:

I really like a tropical look or extreme Disney theming.

I have had good and bad bus and CM experiences everywhere and that is not a deciding factor for me. The bus ride seems long from everywhere, so location isn't an issue either.

That said (and I did go on much too long):

I don't rule out any of them. I hope to be able to stay in them ALL, over and over again......

I would have to say I regret staying at the Poly on my last trip solely based on the fact that I don't think it is worth the price we paid (and we had an AP discount).

We usually stay at POR and I think the rooms there are just as nice as at Poly. The Poly is beautiful and has good dining options but the monorail broke down during our stay and the bus service was horrible. We were paying a premium for monorail access and without it it is just another hotel. I might change my mind if I was staying there for more than a few days as there are activities at the hotel that might be fun to try out but there are so many other resorts I would like to try out before returning.

We just got back from the poly and while it was nice we will never go back. Just way too busy. We love the contemporary and even this past stay we visited it just to get away from all the crazy at the poly. Not worth the money but it was definitely a nice place. We are doing a spur of the moment budget trip in May to POR. Will be our first moderate.

Very interesting guys.

Last time i did a split. 2 days at the wilderness lodge and 6 at the polynesian. When i got to the poly i was thinking im so glad i didnt book our whole stay at the lodge. Although we loved the lodge, the beach atmosphere, the bigger brighter rooms and the castle right there gave us the true disney im the middle of the magic feeling which we loooooove.

We didnt regret staying at the lodge, but we would have if we were there the whole stay.

Looking back i still wouldnt have changed the split stay.

Bay Lake Tower "Theme Park View"...allegedly. The unit was so low we could hardly see anything of the park and we were right over where they were moving linens or garbage all night. Such a ripoff paying extra for that.

We stayed at AKV kidani and I wish we had stayed at Bcv or VWL instead. It was way too big and too much walking. Though I'm glad we did stay there because I had always wanted to stay there and I would always have wondered.

I regret staying at POR.... the room was filthy, and every night night we got a walk up call at 2:30 am despite our complaints.... we had to unplug the phone by the end of our stay.
