When booking a resort the first thing that comes to mind is will i miss my old favorite?

What resort had you regretted booking and what resort did you wish you had been in its place?

I'll give it a whack...we had our usual Contemporary Resort booked one year and weeks before our arrival, Disney called and offered us the GF, same money....we took it, didn't care at all for the whole resort and concept ... WL just opened and we took a trip over and love it from the start...have had many a stay at WL after that... We booked a stay once at the Poly but they didn't have all the nights we wanted and did our first ( and last ) split stay... First 3 nights at AKL then move to the Poly for 6 more nights....we couldn't get out of the AKL fast enough, though we had a Savannah view room, the whole African vibe, meal offerings, layout, no animal Savannah from our room... Totally too far from anything we wanted our Poly Stay to begin to feel like a Disney vacation we were so used to... We've learned our lesson, book what you know you'll enjoy, no matter the cost...when you travel 1100 miles, I want comfort, ease of travel and amenities we're used to.....our bottom line is location... We prefer the MK area...

Wanted to add, we have no problem doing repeats on resorts... No ambition to try them all but we have done quite a few and have weeded out resorts never to return to and resorts we're quite happy with.... All on property...!

Well I have enjoyed most of our resorts...the biggest let down was the hilton at Dtd. To be fair we were spoiled by wdw resorts before staying there. It just wasn't for us. I expected better rooms at the wl but loved the rest of the resort. I really ended up loving the Epcot area. Akl was a nice surprise inspite of the fact it is very remote. The poly was wonderful but it is very pricey.

Our least favorite was CBR, but I don't regret staying there. At least we tried it and know it's not for us. :goodvibes

This past trip we stayed at the Caribe Royale. It is an extremely nice hotel but it just didn't have that Disney feel like every other trip in the past I've had. Plus the shuttles to the park aren't nearly as convenient as the Disney shuttles. Boardwalk (or any Epcot area resort) for the win!

I have only ever stayed at the Poly (LOVED IT).

My problem was I couldnt decide what WDW hotel I wanted to stay at. I was torn between the Poly, the GF, the AOA and the AKL. Iam glad I chose the Poly. But I do still wonder what the AOA would have been like. My daughter was 2 at the time and I know she would have loved it

We have our favorites, but we also enjoy trying new ones. With that said, we don't have any regrets about any of the resorts we've stayed at and would stay at any one of them again without hesitation.

I regret staying at POR this past October. The bus service was horrible, my son hardly used the pool slide (which I thought would be a big success with him), and did I mention the bus service was atrocious? Not worth the extra I spent on it over Pop Century, where I wish we had stayed. Checking into Pop in 11 days! :cool1:

AoA. We stayed 1 night before checking into AKL. We should have stayed the whole time at AKL but I wanted to try out AoA. It just wasn't for us.

Beach Club - big big disappointment. Wish we had been at POR instead. Chose it for family celebration trip & closeness to Epcot for F&W. Won't make that mistake again. Next trip we went to POFQ as we couldn't get our favorite area at POR & it was okay but not as nice as POR.

My least favorite resort is CBR. It probably has more to do with the poor service we received than the actual resort, but I will not return to it. My next least favorite would have to be SoG. The rooms were great....spacious, clean, beautiful setting and grounds....but it just didn't seem "Disney" to us. We didn't use Disney transportation to get back to the resort...instead had to either walk from the Poly or stand in the middle of the parking lot at the TTC with the other "off site" hotels. But I can't complain because we received a great rate at the SOG and were able to enjoy a wonderful week with our Airman son. Ive never stayed at AKL, but I don't think I would enjoy it as much simply because it's so isolated.

We stayed at All Stars Music for out first family trip about 8 years ago. My kids were 7 & 11. It was such a long walk to our room and long bus ride from everywhere, we were exhausted by the fourth day of our seven day vacation. The buses were always so crowed (it was February), and most of the parents and kids were as tired and crabby as we were. After that trip I swore i would never go back. Howere, im pleased to say, that we have gone back and had a marvelous time at Ft.Wilderness and the Poly. We will be there next week and staying at Pop for the first time. Was nervous about another "Value", but have heard wonderful things about Pop. Plus we are only taking our youngest on this trip and he is now 16. (We wont need to carry a sleepy child).

While I don't regret any of our stays, we won't be returning to CBR - It just didn't do it for us. Now if our only choice on site was CBR, I'd be going back, as we won't go and stay off property! :goodvibes

I honestly love them all, and I've stayed at: ASmo, ASMu (2), POP, AoA (2), POR, POFQ (2), CR, WL (3), FW, GF, POLY (2), AKL, Hilton International Drive, HoJo DTD, and Hilton DTD (2).
:dance3::dance3::dance3:

I don't regret staying there but I certainly didn't care for POR and would only stay there as a last resort.

We have stayed at all levels and truthfully have not had a bad vacation at any of them. We had a couple of bad rooms, but the resort changed our room and made it better. We had a few bad days with buses at all levels (some our fault) and a couple of bad times with the monorail. We have found that we really like staying at Mods compared to the other 2 levels.

I would have to say Coronado Springs. We went with another couple who could not afford the Epcot resorts (fav is BW-CL). In order not to be split up, we stayed with them. Never again. My DH is over 6ft and even thou they say "Queen size" beds, they were not. The bus stops were just too big. We did enjoy the pool area. The next time people want to join us in the world, they can opt to stay at the resort we love, or meet us at the parks.

I'm going to have an unpopular personal opinion here.

The last time I went was when I was 14, so I didn't have much say in where we stayed, but I really disliked All-Star Movies. I have ADHD so all the colors and statues were way too overstimulating for me. We ended up really hating the long bus rides back and forth to the parks.

We heard so many wonderful things about Old Key West...and we were VERY dissapointed. The room felt more like an average hotel room as opposed to a DVC villa. The place is VERY spread out...LOTS of walking. The floor plan is very odd and we never felt spoiled like we have at all the other DVC resorts. Never again. The ONLY thing we loved, was the pool bar. :lmao:
