This may not be the right forum, but....for those that have knowledge of previous years & free dining--were there any resorts that were not "eligible stays" for free dining? I've heard you have to be prepared to switch resorts, but is that a limited # issue for each resort or that it's not offered for all resorts?

Why? Trying to decide between several resorts and once I make a decision, I hope to be able to stick with it (it's been a painful process!) :headache:

Thanks in advance!

I thought that some of the DVC home away from home resorts were not included, but I could be wrong. You need to be careful when booking Deluxe resorts with the free dining. It may not be the best value as you have to pay full price for the resort. It may turn out to be cheaper to book the room with a discount and then just pay for your meals.

No discounts are across the board, and not all resorts will participate in the promotion for all dates.

Wilderness Lodge can be tough for a discount, especially Standard and Woods View rooms.

If Disney can book something at full price they will not put a discount on it. Free dining is just another discount.

WL was not available when the Free Dining promo came out last April. The All-star Music family suites and all suites for the matter (as far as I know) are never included in the FD promo. POP and ASMo always sell out first. There really is no way to know which resorts will or won't have blocks available. It will just depend on which resorts Disney needs to fill for the time frame.

On a related note, the best deal for free dining is when you book the cheaper resorts. So if you don't mind staying at a value or moderate, go that route.

My dil had Pop booked and when the free ddp came out, there was no availablity left at Pop for her dates, so she could not just apply the promotion to her existing package reservation, so she had to switch to A/S Music. There are only a certain amount of rooms available for each promotion. Booking a reservation and applying a code does not always work out. Often you have to switch to another resort to get the promotion.

when i see most ppl talk about having to switch resorts usually they are talking about the values..what about moderates..has anyone had to change thier moderate resort ressie..im booked at por(i have 5 in my family) its the only resort that will fit all of us..anyone have any expierience here?

Actually, WL was available for free dining last year. We stayed there & we booked a standard room. We were originally booked at AKL with a 40% off code because WL was not available for our dates with the code. On the day free dining became available to visa card holders, I switched to WL, standard room with free dining!! :thumbsup2 I think it depends on which week you are staying. When we went in 2005, the first year of the free dining, we wanted to stay at Pop and it took several weeks before something was available. We went in October that time and it was much busier.

Not free dining, but a few weeks ago when the current AP codes came out neither PORS nor CSR was available for my dates (May 3rd-10th). I had to choose between CBR and POFQ. AS Movies was also not available and I was going to have to choose between POP, AS Sports, and AS Music. WL was also not available for my dates. I called the first day the codes came out. I didn't try for it, but I also read on these boards that quite a few people were also unable to get the POLY for most of the dates of the promotion. I went with POFQ, but have called a few times since, to try for PORS and have not been successful.

Last Dec I was unable to get the Disney VISA code at POP and had to switch to AS Sports.

Anyway my point is that not all promotions will be available across the board for all resorts.
