Does anyone know of any of the value or moderate resorts that do not have alot of ducks or birds around them? You see, I have a phobia of birds. We stayed at Caribbean Beach on our honeymoon and while I like the resort itself, I could not even eat outside with all the ducks and birds flying around. :earseek: I have stayed at WL and enjoyed that resort very much but it is not in our budget for the trip next year.

TIA!

i did not see a single bird/duck/fowl at POFQ at all...
Same here. But at POR... I saw a few. Polynesian has some.. and WL has some too. I don't remember seeing any at any All Star. I saw a few in the lake at POP.

I have not seen any ducks at the All Stars.
I think the All Stars are the only resorts that do not have a lake or pond nearby. POFQ doen't but POR which is nearby does.
I think you might want to concider staying there. They really have a lot to offer.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Clypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

Here is the map of All Movies.

The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
It is a great place to stay .
Preschoolers love it.
It is like being in the middle of a Disney Movie Fantasyland.
All Star Movies has pop up fountains now also.
The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POP buses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot,MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Have a great time at Disney!

Sorry to say that all Disney resorts with lakes will have ducks and all resorts with outside seating areas, where people feed the birds, will attract those annoying black birds.

The black birds that swoop down on the eating areas are really annoying as are the people that feed them.

The only resort I can think that has little or none, is Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We ate outside of the Mara (AKL) near the pool, and the beggar birds were there. They were subtle tho, not like the crazy birds at the Poly, who can jump on a plastic sandwich container until it pops open, and then they make off with the whole big sandwich. I saw it with my own eyes!

Also, in MK, don't get fries at the stand between Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. Those birds are warriors!

We saw several ducks at POFQ this summer. Generally any resort that has some sort of water nearby, including swimming pools, will have ducks around. We did see the ducks enjoying a morning swim at a couple of resorts during our trips. In general the ducks will leave you alone but the blackbirds and seagulls are another story.

the eagles, hawks and falcons have finally arrived at WDW.

give them time. It will never be bird free. but even the birds will learn that is stupid to beg food when there is a predictor around.

I start noticing them a couple of years ago. They can catch other birds in flight or on the ground.

the eagles who generally eat fish - even are getting some birds.

so give it time. WDW will never to be bird free. there are just too many birds that love Florida as much as we do. but they will learn not to be so public if they want to live.

Disney will never be, nor should it be, bird free! It's Florida for God sakes!
If you have a phobia I sympathize but I'm sure the CM's clean up more from humans then birds! :confused3

We had a duck, a squirel and a bird all begging for food at WL (gee, that sound like a joke! A duck, a squirel and a bird all walk into a Disney restaurant...) but otherwise I don't remember any critters coming near us at any resort or park. But since I don't have a phobia, maybe I just didn't notice.

IF you have a phobia about ducks!! My daughter was 28 at the time of our last trip and she has a terrible phobia about ducks and birds. She went out to the pool behind our resort with her daughters, and was CHASED back to the room by three of the darn things!!! They seem to know that she was afraid and they flew right at her. She has always been afraid of them and so gives wide berth to anything that flies. These three seem to sit outside our room and wait for her!! My granddaughters and I would have to go out and lead them away so that she could get out!! We told the CMs at the front desk about it and although they laughed (as did I when I told them about it) they said that there was nothing that could be done. These were local birds to the area and as such could not be touched. I understand about your phobia and I sympathize!

Just back from ASMovie a few weeks ago and saw many strange looking black birds-and they were not shy!

Okay... calm down...let's not get excited. The OP was just asking nicely what resort where there may be less birds or ducks around. We all know that birds can be found everywhere it wants to fly as well as the ducks. Do you know what resort in the value or moderate that has less ducks or maybe birds?

Don't ever stay at the Poly then! Tons of ducks, they even spent the night in the quiet pool. Saw at least 20 of them in there one late night! Also they have the 3-4pm crow invasion. Right out of Hitchcock! I loved the ducks but hated the crows! I noticed the WL had the same crow problem. Maybe it's just the time of year. I also saw the Poly cat twice. Pretty tame for a feral. She would let you get pretty close. Looked well fed! :cat:

Unfortunately, as long as people think it's cute to throw popcorn and fries to birds and ducks, they'll be wherever there are people eating, and that is pretty much all over Disney... I get so aggravated seeing people feed them that garbage, but also, if someone gets bit by a squirrel or some other critter, Disney will be blamed, not the people who thought it would be *cute*

This is a little out there, but it may help you. In 1993 we went to DL Paris while on our honeymoon and did not see a single bird of any sort. This is very odd, because in Paris there are pigeons everywhere! My husband is a duck hunter and we spent a lot of time trying to figure out how they did this.
Maybe just a thought for future plans.
PS; I don't like birds either!

I've also not seen any at All Star Movies.

When we stayed at Coronado Springs, I only remember seeing them around an outdoor seating area where people brought food outside from the Pepper Market.
