Hi Guys,

We are celebrating our wedding October 9-20. I wanted to inquire about swapping resorts during our stay. As an annual pass holder, there is currently a disconunt on the DDP. Our wedding party is staying at POR. I noticed the credits stop when you check out, but if I transfer will the credits also? We want to swap over to the WL for our Disneymoon, but we won't be using our initial credits from our POR stay. I would love to roll over these credits as to take advantage of some signature dining experiences....ie. Cali Grill, Brown Derby.

There is no discount on the DDP for Ap holders, so that info is wrong.

Your credits from your first stay will expire at midnight on the day you check out of the first resort. There is no carrying them over.

Vicki,

Under "Offers for Passholders" there is a link for Room and Dine Packages. After making my resort selection for the required dates it displays a page that reads "Passholder Annual Room Plus Dine Offer." I can't give you an exact percentage of a discount, if there really is one. I'm debating calling and trying. I don't want to spend the extra money the first few days, if I can't continue my stay at another Disney resort without losing my credits.

There is no discount on the DDP. The Passholder offer just allows you to purchase the dining plan at regular price without purchasing a separate ticket (which is the normal requirement for non-AP holders). You can do this AP package with either an AP room discount or a full price room, so no other type of room discounts.

But you will pay full price for the dining plan.

Not sure what you mean about "calling and trying" - trying for what?

By "Calling and Trying" I was hoping to explain to a cast member that I'm booking a 12 day vacation/honeymoon and to inquire as to simply swapping resorts not checking out...therefore not losing my dining credits.

After further research it does appear that the dining rates are not discounted but the room rates are slightly.

You can call, but they won't do it. Many people do this every day at Disney-switch resorts. They are two entirely separate reservations, and you can't carry over dining credits. Sorry.

It sounds like you'll only be at the first resort for a couple days. Why not add the DDP to your second resort?

If the Passholder offer allows you to purchase the dining plan at regular price without purchasing a separate ticket, then why not just make two reservations and do the DDP with both? Isn't is the same thing?

First off congratulations on your wedding.

While it is a 12 day continuous vacation/honeymoon for you, whenever you change resorts Disney considers it 2 totally separate stays and you will be booking it as 2 separate reservations. Here on the disboards we call it a split stay, but from Disney's point of view there is no such thing. To Disney you have 2 separate reservations back to back.

Any dining plan entitlements you have left from the POR res will expire at the end of your POR check out day.

LOL. Excellent point, MistressMerryweather. Sometimes I miss the obvious!

There is No way of rolling over credits to another resort you have to "check out" of the 1st resort and check into the next so your credits will expire at midnight of the 1st check out day! you will still be able to use any left over credits up until 12 midnight the day you check into the new resort.

I would just get DDP at both resorts since you have a AP that allows you to have the DDP with out getting extra tickets......

Like other have said Disney does not do split stays they are seperate reservations!! I wanted to do that this trip with free DDP and we would of had to buy a new set of tickets we didnt need just to get the DDP :(

Thanks for the replies guys. The issue was saving up the credits from the first few nights...we wouldn't have used them then....we could have saved those uo for later in the honeymoon to capitalize on some signature dinners that would have required two TS credits a piece. Looks like I will just be purchasing two separate stays. Thanks again though for the responses.

If you won't be using them, then why not save your money and don't add on the dining to your first part of the trip, then when you move to the second hotel, add the deluxe dining plan instead using the monies you saved from not getting dining at the first hotel? You'll then be able to do signature and dinner shows without worrying about it. :)

You can't do that. WDW considers swapping resorts to be two separate room reservations, so you will be required to check out and check in again at the next resort, and will not be able to roll over your dining credit allotment from one reservation to the next.

The best you can do is use whatever credits you have left on the first stay the day you transfer resorts, but any unused credits will expire at midnight.

Consider doing no DDP for the first stay if you are not going to use the credits. You can add DDP (if you want signatures and dinner shows, consider the deluxe dining plan) to the second stay without purchasing extra tickets if you book annual passholder packages.

It is true that you are getting a discount on the room portion of your package, and not on the dining plan.

TDC NALA,

That's actually what I believe would be best. We'll stay at POR during our initial wedding but Monday transfer to the WL and utilize the DDP. This way we can still utilize signature credits and save some money on the front end of the journey. I wanted to make her honeymoon special, not just split QS meals, this was why I was trying to make best use of DP/DDP. Thank you all for your responses!
