Ok, so...having thought long and hard for many months, I think we had finally decided that we (me, DH, DD9 and DS7) would stay at the Poly for our upcoming trip in mid-November. We stayed there, in Tahiti, on our last trip and loved it. The convenient location near the TTC and the balcony that we could watch the fireworks from when the kids were in their pj's were brilliant.

However, in recent days I've seen that it is very possible that there will be construction going on at the Poly when we are there, and I'm not sure that I'm too keen on that. So the question is....what would be a somewhat comparable choice? Does the GF have rooms where you can see the fireworks? Also, is the GF still under construction?

Is there another resort that would be fun for the kids and also convenient for transportation? I rather have a dread of the buses....

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't think that construction will be a problem this November. If you just don't want to risk it and still want a great MK view you could try the Contemporary Resort in a Tower Room-theme park view. Really the best views into and of the MK anywhere. CL is really expensive however. I think the TPV at CR are better than TPV at GF but others may disagree. As of last week and I would estimate for at least a few more months GF is still under construction.

GF construction will be done by Oct. 23rd, that's when GFV will be opening, so I don't think it will be a problem.

We are in the exact same boat! Right now leaning towards GF as our poly back up, Good luck!

I would stay MK view at the Contemporary. Better views than GF AND Poly and it's cheaper to boot.

I'm staying at CR with amylase view this time but honestly... You cannot get abetted view from the Poly!!! Not only can you watch the sunrise over the castle you can see the GF & CR! It's the best view in all of WDW IMHO!! It's absolutely breath taking! We loved looking out over the water at night seeing GF & CR all lit up & watching castle change colors, watching the EWP & Wishes from our balcony!!

Thank you for your thoughts so far. My kids tell me that they have no interest in staying at the Contemporary - apparently it doesn't have that 'fun' appeal to them. Now we are also considering the BC...not close to MK anymore but close to Epcot. I wish there were no possible issues with the Poly as then there'd be no question. Hmmmmm.

I use to feel the same way about CR until we stayed just b/c we were there for an over night trip to go to MVMCP & we fell in love with the rooms, the rest if the resort feels a bit like an airport but I love being on monorail line so I'm ok with that! Lol

ASMU/POR Dec 16-22, 2012 & CR Sept 8-15, 2013

We love the Poly - it's our favorite resort and we're staying there again this August. However, I tried up and down and left and right to get my kiddos to try the CR just once. I REALLY wanted to be within walking distance of MK. No dice. Like you, my kids have zero interest in CR. The theming just isn't there. "Too much like a regular hotel" they tell me. If we were in your shoes (going NEXT Aug. during DVC Construction,) I think we'd try BC or BWI. Hard to give up the monorail and the proximity to the TTC though!
