I read the resort studios are closer to the main bldg. and restaurants and amenities. I think I also read there is still construction in the area. Are these both correct? For those of you who have stayed in both, which did you prefer and why? Thank you in advance for your replies.

We liked both. We stayed resort studio over Labor Day and didn't find the construction to be a huge deal... not sure where it is now though? The walk to the quick-serve from the deluxe studio is further, but I don't find the resort to be large enough that it made a huge difference. We had standard view deluxe studio and ended up with a nice view of the monorail which my kids loved. Standard view resort studio was the back of the pool bar area. The deluxe studio building is right by the feature pool and the resort studios are right by the quiet pool... both had a quick-serve/pool bar.

We prefer the deluxe studios. I like having the mini kitchen area, split bath and the ability to watch TV from the couch and not have space taken up by a second bed.

Plus, you can get to the main building under a covered walkway from the original building. The distance between the two is about a 3 minute walk.

We were just in a resort studio (standard view) 11/26 -11/29. Resort studios are definitely closer to the Main Bldg than the original DVC Building.

They are in the process of refurbishing the GF Hotel Buildings, and have virtually finished the Boca Chica Building, which is the closest one to the VGF2 DVC Building. We were never bothered by or inconvenienced by any construction. I did wish Narcoosees was open, though. :)

We stay 2-4 nights, and I prefer the resort studios only because I can easily book them at 11 months without walking. Members walk the Deluxe studios for the late November/early December time frame and that is our preferred Travel time.

FWIW, we did not experience any of the noise issues many others are reporting. I know the resort was fully booked while we were there and firmly believe noise is heavily influenced by the neighbors occupying the nearby rooms. We were lucky, I guess.

After staying in both, we prefer the original DVC studios at VGF. Probably just comes down to personal preference.

I prefer the original studios. We just stayed in the Resort Studios, and the noise from the next room was unbearable.

Stayed in both on a split stay in November.
Resort studio - 2 queen beds, larger than DS, closer to main building/monorail/boat, tub/shower combo only
Deluxe studio - 1 queen w/queen murphy, smaller living space, split bathroom w/walk-in-shower
For us, we liked the resort studio for the 2 queen beds ( murphy is ok but mattress is less comfortable than the queen bed). Didn’t like the tub/shower - bad knees and after long day in park, it was hard to lift, 😂. We don’t prepare meals in the studios, and the beverage cooler kept our drinks cold.
So, it really just depends on your needs/preferences and availability as resort studios should be easier to book.

Thank you for the information. I stayed in the resort studio and it is beautiful. However, I definitely prefer viewing the television from a couch vs a bed. I also prefer a walk in shower and separate tub. One for bubble bath and other to just shower 😂. Additionally, there are some resort studios that do not have a balcony. I would not be happy to discover the room assigned did not have a balcony/ patio. Definitely prefer a kitchenette as well with sink and regular refrig. My question however not having stayed in a deluxe studio standard view in main villa building do you have any insight as to which views to avoid. They all appear to still be decent views but since I have that accommodation booked, wondered if you have any favorite views? Requests are never guaranteed but thought I would inquire. Thank you!

We are never worried about our views so I can’t say. One room we had was a roof but I don’t even remember what room that was!

But, the rest of the rooms have always seemed great!

Personally like the aesthetic of the resort studios more, but the deluxe studios do have advantages (kitchenette, etc)

By original studio, which is the original? I have a deluxe studio booked and for room requests when doing the check in, I am not sure if I should put any in.
Original =deluxe studios in the “original” VGF bldg; resort studios are the new room type in the converted BPK Bldg 😉

ETA- you will be in the OG VGF, with split bath & Murphy bed/couch combo for the 2nd queen bed.

The Deluxe studios are in the original VGF building. As far as requests, we always like high floor.

Thank you!! I have the deluxe studio reserved. We usually stay at BWV or SSR, but decided to change it up doing a split stay for a few days at VGF. When I go to check in on the app it says I can request ground floor, near lobby or near stairs. Any suggestions? Or suggestions if I call to request.

Thank you! We are in a standard view deluxe. Any suggestions besides a higher floor?
We only stayed there once, in a standard view 1BR with a nice view of the monorail and the fountain between VGF and the main building. There’s one studio on 2nd floor (I think) that looks onto the roof of the entrance portico, other than that I think the standard views are pretty nice since the monorail is there!

I’m sure you will love your time at the Grand! We often split-stay so that we can experience different resorts ☺️

I really like the VGF building & like the pp said, the views are almost all good ones. I also only stayed in that building once, and was “across” from the elevator… which would be terrible in the BPK bldg resort studios… but here it was pleasantly peaceful, had a great monorail view (from the studio’s balcony), had nice views of the penguin fountain below (from the interior corridor), & provided easy access to the elevator. Total win!! 🤩

I’ve not stayed near stairs in that bldg, but at the Riviera stairs are often used by CM’s in the morning so that they don’t take up elevator space during … the heavy doors are pretty loud & can be disruptive if you’re trying to sleep in.
