I haven't done it but people who do resort only stays spend their time at thr resort pools,go to Downtown Disney for shopping and food, go to the Boardwalk for food, shopping and to see the street performers. There is also miniature golf you can go and pay to do. Some resorts have an arcade you can go to. The games cost extra.

The only thing with room only is just that the room and pools at the resort.

With a package that includes park tickets, you usually get one free round of miniature golf and some tokens for the arcade.

Ok is see. Do you get the disney resort mug with the resort only stay?

You can purchase the mug for about $16.00 each. If you are going to be staying at the resort only it would probably be a good deal. If you are planning to go to the parks and such maybe not. I don't think I could go to Disney and not go to the parks, but that's just me.:)

Ok thank you!!

If I were going to do a resort only stay, I think I would pick Animal Kingdom Lodge. They have plenty of activities to keep you busy but they are not close enough to a theme park that you can see it. (I just don't think I could be within sight of MK or Epcot and not go.)

If you can swing it financially. you might consider going to one park one day. I was going to go to one park one day I would pick MK for the age of your kids.

With your kids ages they might like the theme and decorations at Art of Animation resort. A standard room there woul be the LM rooms -Little Mermaid. Since it is a value room it will be less money than some of the other resorts. The pool looks fun!

I have a DD age 10, It will be five years sine we have gone. We stayed in CSR a mod before. Recently my DD and I have viewed the planning DVD and looked at the slide shows of the resorts she said she liked the rooms and pool at AoA the best!

Thank you and I did do AoA and a one day pass to HS

We go to Disney for the parks. IMHO there are better places to go for a "resort only" stay. On the Disney side I would prefer a Disney cruise to a resort only stay.

We have done a bunch of resort only stays & continue to do them often. We go a lot & sometimes we want the Disney feel without the parks.

We love staying at AKL for that type of trip because there is so much to do at that resort! We sleep in, hang by the pool, go to a different resort every night for dinner, hang out at DtD, go to FW for their activities. We rent boats a different resort marinas. We resort hop. There is so much to do & our kids don't ever miss the parks!

Thus year we are doing the parks & have a 9 day stay booked. I have only 2 no park days & my kids were mad at me! They said they wanted more time to hang at the resorts! We are doing a split stay with AoA & BLT. I think I might surprise them & add a few days at Vero!

I've done a resort only stay, but it is usually in in conjunction with a runDisney event such as the Wine & Dine Half Marathon or Expedition Everest Challenge.

Perhaps one of the Port Orleans Resorts would be good for you. Using the general public 30% off offer on the WDW site it looks like a pretty good deal. Staying at PO you could use either pool and there is a fishing hole where you can cane pole fish.(or there was) You can catch the boat to Downtown Disney and there are also carriage rides around the resort.

Are you referring to a room only reservation (as opposed to a package with park tickets/dining plan) or a trip where you do not visit any parks and just hang out at the resort? We have done the latter. It was only for two days/one night and we stayed at POR. We loved having easy access to DTD where we spent most of our time, and we liked being able to walk over to POFQ for change of scenery. We also spent a lot of time at the pool, and preferred the quiet pools where there weren't as many people. We also went to the boardwalk which we found boring during the day, and went around the monorail resorts as well. We did this after a cruise so it worked fine for us, but I would be bored if we had stayed any longer without doing the parks.

We have done resort only stays a few times and my family has enjoyed them each and every time. My youngest loves hanging out by the pool and doing all the activities they offer. We rent bikes, resort hop, eat at different resorts, watch the fireworks from the Poly beach - there really is tons to do. :cutie:

We did this once and in my opinion I felt like I was missing something not being able to go to the parks!

A room only stay, no visiting the parks

We are doing a resort only stay this July at AKL. There are SO many things to do outside the parks, and I'm really excited to experience them without feeling like Im wasting park time outside the park (hope that makes sense). We plan on doing a lot of animal watching, pool time (and we are DVC, so we get to pool hop), enjoy all the activities that AKL has to offer, Downtown, Boardwalk, fireworks from Polynesian beach, Fort Wilderness activities, and be away from the crowds!

We're in the process of planning a resort only stay for February in conjunction with runDisney's Glass Slipper Challenge.

I'm really excited to try all the other things WDW has to offer without being distracted by the temptation of the parks. We're planning on mini golfing, riding Characters in Flight in DTD, spending lots of time at our resort (rented points to stay deluxe) and visiting other resorts!

We did a 5-night stay with just 1 park day last year. It was actually very relaxing. We choose CBR and DD loved the pool area - she would have stayed there the whole time if we let her. Besides the pools, there are recreation activities available at the resorts, mini-golf, DTD, Fort Wilderness has a lot to offer (and we didn't make it there last year - next time), fireworks from the Poly beach, depending on time of year the ESPN WWoS might have an event to watch, and visiting other resorts is another favorite activity.

Enjoy your vacation!

Don't forget about Fort Wilderness; there is a lot to do there without going to a park; horse back riding, bbq, Hoop Dee Doo, wagon rides, pony rides for the little ones, etc.
