Some of the recent souvieners I see are printed with Disney World and Disney Land lables, talk about losing interest in buying the item. It can be purchased at either resort!
Yeah, I think this issue is actually getting *better* now, not worse. We noticed that merch in adventureland during our August 2009 trip, and there was also more unique attraction-specific merchandise at EPCOT... including a t-shirt and hat for Maelstrom!
At the resorts, I was impressed to see kidani village-specific t-shirts, and we bought an Animal Kingdom lodge sweatshirt and BLT t-shirt.
There was also some really cool limited edition Haunted Mansion 40th Anniversary merchandise that was brought in from Disneyland. And I picked up another retro t-shirt from the EPCOT anniversary section. There was actually a new model of retro shirt this year (we were there in Aug 2008 too).
Yep...this Disney parks logo is annoying. I want stuff that says DisneyLAND..and actually it seems they are making a comeback at DLR. So..I want VGC logo items and I guess that will never happen .
On a bright note..found a Pixar shirt at DCA..would have thought the Expo store would have that kind of thing, but nope...it was Off The Page.
Like most of you, I have been to many Disney resorts many times, and have bought many Disney merchandises through the years. Now with everyone trying to spend less money, why would we need another generic Mickey Mouse T-shirt with nothing unique about it when we already have a few of the same thing hanging in our closet?
Now that I am a DVC member, and on vacation at Disney, I'll only buy souvieners if they are cool unique attraction/resort/park-specific merchandise to commemorate the trip.
If they stop making resort specific merch, I just simply not buy anything at all.
