Possibly looking at going to OKW but see on some threads where the size/depending on where your room is makes things quite inconvenient.

In comparison to CBR, is OKW bigger or about the same size? We loved the CBR with a main pool and then the fact that each area has their own quiet pool (which we used quite a bit) - that perhaps OKW may have the same sort of feel but with a studio room. The size of CBR didn't bother me and the grounds were pretty so we didn't mind the walks anyway.

Also another question - we have to fly and typically use DME and Disney transportation. I have no desire to rent a car as the roads in Disney are way busier than our busiest highways.... Our sons (adults...) who love to golf may be with us. On of the official Disney sites indicates that transportation MAY be available from your resort to the golf club. As they will probably be on the Water Parks and More tickets they would have to golf at Oak Trail. Does anyone know if OKW provides transportation to that club. I would assume that the one that actually goes through OKW would be within walking distance but isn't included on that pass.

As long as you stay at any Disney resort, transportation is free to all of the golf courses, including Oak Trail. Just go to the valet at the front and he'll hail a cab. He'll give you a voucher for the cab ride to the course. Same goes for coming back to the resort as well.

Thanks so much - that's good to know!! We were a bit worried that they would go though a lot of $$ just getting back and forth.

We have never stayed at CBR, but we've walked around it.

We stayed at OKW in September and fell in love. It is a HUGE resort; but there are buses that go to all of the secitons and you can get off at any one. We were in Building 40 and if I am remembering correctly the Hospitality House is the third stop after we got picked up. We never had to get off at HH, but we used the buses almost exclusively this trip and we normally drive. We had no issues with the transportation at all.

http://allears.net/acc/okwmap.jpg As you can see, OKW is a lot larger then CBR, more spread out.

We stayed at CBR, and loved walking around the lake path. Although CBR does have an internal bus, we never felt the need to use it. We were in Jamaica 42. But I felt everything was walking distance. I don't think that will be the case at OKW. But we've not stayed there.

POR is our fav moderate resort.

And from my recollection, 1 night at CBR (before a Disney cruise) and don't much remember what CBR was all about but OKW was a few trips ago..

I personally did not care for OKW....just the expanse and lay out and the either bus ride or long walk to the HH area where the main themed pool and food is located.....we're used to the compact deluxe resorts....and the quiet pool by our villa was just that, small hole in the ground with water....no ambiance what so ever....and we were on the 3rd floor....no elevators!!

The villas themselves are beautiful and well appointed....very spacious and the grounds are huge and quite serene.....

So...we prefer a resort that is close to the park we're gong to spend the most time in, like alternative travel options (we don't rent or use a car at WDW) so our prime aspect in booking a resort is location (got a great deal on OKW and gave it a try since we never stayed there) but won't be going back.....

CBR...like I said it was only one night, kinda anxious about the cruise (first one) and didn't roam any nor go to any parks from there but the room was decent....it's all aobut the location to the parks and closeness of the room to the pool for us......good luck and hope I didn't burst any bubble about the OKW resort...if there were no parks to visit in WDW, OKW would be nice, just hate all that internal busing to get around....and by the way.....it was a waste and pain to purchase a refill mug at that resort....too far away for refills.....JMHO..

roydavid is absolutely correct. I came back from OKW in October. Me and my buddy played at lake buena vista. It starts at Saratoga and is the one that cuts through OKW. The course is absolutely NOT walking distance but is a very quick cab ride (sounds weird but trust me) You just go to the valet (in our case the front desk since the valet was not working yet as we had the first tee time of the day) at the hotel you are staying at and they call the cab for you. They give you the voucher. You get the voucher for the return trip at the course pro shop. The tip is included one of our drivers told us but since they are only supposed to drop you at the front desk, and he dropped us at our villa in OKW we gave him some extra. And the cab came LITERALLY in 2 minutes going, about 1 minute returning to the room. Fantastic service. And for what it's worth, if they havent played at WDW before (was my first time as well) everyone at the course is great and friendly, and the course is in phenomenal shape. Have a great trip!!

Thanks so much for the info. How hard is it to get tee-off times (especially at Oak Trail??). I would hate to find out they are a lot like the ADRs and anything for January/February would already be gone (the golf courses are the only reason we can get our sons age 28/24 to consider the trip - ha ha)

It was pretty easy to get a reservaton but the wife booked it for us. She called the main number and I beleive they switched her to another number that specifically handles the golf reservations. I would definitely call ahead before getting there. The courses are very popular. You can search all the options on the main wdw site (9 or 18 holes, walking, cart, club rental, etc.) If they rent the clubs, the price was I believe 50$ and the equipment was excellent. When you call, they will tell you what times are available for each course. You should have a decent selection since, like me, you are not going at a peak time.

Great info so far :)

Any more thoughts from anyone who has stayed at both CBR and OKW?? I looked on the maps for each resort but they're don't give a scale. When I look at the overall sattelite view, CBR/OWK look to be about the same size??:confused3

I have also looked at the Saratoga Springs site, but it didn't really catch my eye and the map of the resort makes it appear that there are areas that are quite far from the main or quiet pools so I really don't think that's an option.

Keep the ideas coming :-)
