We were able to fit two iPads in the safe at AKL. I'm thinking the safes are a standard size throughout the World...

Depends on the resort. We have no problem fitting our netbook in the safe at the Poly.

When we stayed at CSR I had trouble fitting my wallet.

There are different sized safes, depending on when the resort was built. But even the smallest will fit an iPad - I regularly put a netbook (which is bigger than an iPad) in the small safes.

Does an ipad fit in the room safe?

I was able to fit two iPad's, a Kindle, a wallet, and a wallet size zippered pouch in our BC safe. Nothing got smooshed or broken. I wish it were a tad larger so I could have put the kid's iPod's into it, but oh well. I was impressed with all I DID fit in there.

I know I have put my laptop (and it's not small by any means) in the safes at BCV and CR and BLT. CR and BLT safes were HUGE - I put the laptop, two cameras, and a very large handbag in them. They were the newer type where you can either swipe a cc for your "key" or enter a PIN on a keypad. A lot of the resorts have the smaller size, but it's plenty large enough for an ipad.
